Re: How do you feel about a 2.0L TT as the base engine for the 2019 WL Grand Cherokee

4cyl vehicles have NEVER interested me. I know that some 4cyl vehicles have good HP and great fuel economy, but something about the cheap sound of a 4 banger I just couldn't deal with. I personally could not imagine myself driving a heavy SUV like the Grand Cherokee with a 4cyl. No turbo or 17 turbos I don't care, just doesn't interest me. Would I give it a shot and test drive one? Sure, who knows maybe I would be pleasantly surprised, but for now and what i'm used to I don't think it would be something that I would like.

Yes. I was the same way. Until 1987. That was the year I discovered the Buick Grand National existed.

Nothing beats the sound of a V8 though.
V6s sound anemic and 4 cylinders are glorified lawnmowers when it comes to sound. Im sure there are a few exceptions. Ive heard some pretty badass sounding subarus.

Basically, if you pump enough air and fuel into a 4cylinder engine, you can rival most any V8 in retail today. But the stress on said engine is quite a bit higher than a 6 or 8 pumping out tbe same hp and torque.

GREAT car, spent more time in the shop and cost more to repair than any Jeep I have ever owned.

BMW had problems with the 335's first few years it came out, you are right very fun to drive but the fuel pump problems and BMW's denial and blame on the fuel quality left a bad taste. I am on the new 3.0 single turbo now and its pretty quick pulling my X5, very smooth combined with the 8 speed, haven't tried their 4cyl turbo that they offer in the x3, heard its fun too.

The 3.6 pentastar still shows as an engine option in 2019 for the challenger. No engine list for the GC yet...but the challenger and Jeep usually have similar engine options. More to come....

Folks like you and me who grew up at a time when "muscle cars" and other vehicles with "the sound" were the bee's knees would certainly notice this, but those who came after us don't know "that sound"!

Ahhh......... yes. And that was driving it nice and tame. Nothing sounds quite like it though. It does something to our pulse. Makes it race a little.

I would prefer having them upgrade the EcoDiesel to add a second turbo charger and a user-selectable start/stop system too.
