Very true. I had a 440 in my 69 Charger, a 383 in my 70 Roadrunner, a 460 in my 71 Lincoln and I dropped a 454 in my 77 K5 Blazer. The sound said it all.

Not knocking anyone's choice in ride but every time I hear one of those popcan mufflers the kids favor today it just makes me laugh.

Re: How do you feel about a 2.0L TT as the base engine for the 2019 WL Grand Cherokee

As long as there is bigger engine available I don't care what is the base engine. I don't think 2L will do the job on the big heavy truck. I have friends who are always buying 4 cyl cars, but small cars. For them Toyota rav4 is a big truck, so I don't think there will be many of them looking into big trucks..... What I don't like in the turbo engine also is the delay in the gas pedal respond. They need to get the RPM up first so the turbo can kick on. Speaking about BMW's 3.0 turbo - it is the same with slow respond before takes off. I can see the difference and prefer my Hemi every day after I drive my buddy's X5. The other change I see in the new models is the dial style of the gear shifter. It does not look right to me at all plus they made it cheap looking. I prefer fancy handle style shifter like in our Jeeps and BMW, Audi....

lol I love idiots that don't know shit about cars that think they know everything. Like I said there's no X5 with a TT its a single turbo and your 335 would be old if it had a TT. They switched them out with a single turbo twin scroll over 5 years ago at this point, you know when the n54 was replaced with the n55...

Re: How do you feel about a 2.0L TT as the base engine for the 2019 WL Grand Cherokee

Ford had the right idea with the 1.6 and 2.0 ecoboost engines. Their escape has the 2.0 ecoboost option and I heard it's quite comparable to the 3.0L V6 it replaced in the escape.

Cherokee. I ask every Cherokee driver with a single tailpipe how they like their "Tigershark" engine. Every single one of them say it's severely underpowered and they wished they'd spent more on the 3.2L V6.
Why didn't Fiat offer a Turbo 4cyl. The Cherokee is not a light vehicle. Ours weighs in at just over 2 tons with all it's options. (Limited). The 3.2 moves it along pretty nicely, but I couldn't imagine 90HP less of the 4cyl.

Drove the Honda CRV (my wife was interested in it) and OMG what a slug. 4cyl only. 185HP and the thing is HEAVY. With a Turbo it would have been much better. More 6cyl like.

Anyway, with newer vehicles getting heavier and heavier with more and more technology and options for them, 4cylinder non turbo engines will not cut it. 4cyl with turbos are ok for micro or small SUVs like the escape, cherokee/renegade/compass/patriot. But for the bigger SUV's like Durango, JGC, Explorer, Whatever chevy has these days, needs something a bit more even for the base engine. 3.6 pentastar class is minimum IMHO. My Laredo gets up and boogies with it and I couldn't be happier with any V6. Impressive engine. Throw a turbo on that, and you have 6.1 Hemi power with probably more torque. I wonder if it would use the same amount of fuel as the hemi though.

You need to re read what I typed, I never said there were no single turbo X5's. I'm not referring to you I said there are single turbo X5's. I quoted the trail that it was referring to. The person who thinks he drives a v6 BMW who everyone has been correcting this thread.

I miss typed a v6 vs i6. Very common as most cars are V's.

Well why don't you educate me and enhance your credibility then ?

Where's the issue with Subaru turbo engine reliability ? With one brief exception in early 2008 when FHI messed up, where's the problem? I rarely see any EVOs on the road today but there are plenty of old Subies around. All that reliability must not have all been in the iron block...
