Re: How does your Dealership treat you?

I don't see why it matters that you've gone to a dealer for 20 yrs or this is the first time buying from them. Shouldn't everyone get good service? Don't dealers want to go above and beyond on the first car purchaser so they'll keep coming back for 20 yrs?

Re: How does your Dealership treat you?

My current dealer is hands down my favorite dealer. Field's Jeep in Glenview, Illinois.

Basically the situation was I purchased a lemon ('14 diesel wk2 that I had for 1800 miles or roughly 2 months). The diesel was at the dealership almost every 3 days like clockwork. Eventually the sales manager and staff said "forget dealing with this nonsense, give the guy a different car." So I only had to pay taxes on a new '15 wk2 with the V6 (sadly the last 5.7 was sold 2 hours before this agreement was reached and I needed a vehicle asap). I will definitely continue to use them for future purposes (not to mention they often have awesome older cars in the showroom and custom jobs like a challenger convertible - which I believe is still for sale).

Re: How does your Dealership treat you?

A lot of good posts on this thread, I would like to bring one more aspect into light. As I have mentioned before, I have been a tech for 40 years. My specialty is automatic transmissions. It seems as time goes on, the shade tree mechanic is becoming more and more limited as to what he can fix himself. It is not because of lack of talent so much, it is because of the inability to be able to communicate with your vehicle. In my business we are fixing more and more vehicles with software updates than most can imagine. And in some cases, even we have to go to the dealer to get the vehicle fixed. We have the capability of "flashing" a vehicle, but even with all the aftermarket scanners that we have, you sometimes need the "factory tool" to read some codes. You cannot do a re flash unless you first fix the codes. Unless you only work on one make of vehicle, I don't think it is cost effective to buy every factory scan tool for every make of vehicle you work on. I do not know too many DIY mechanics who would go out and spend four of five thousand dollars for an aftermarket scanner. Sure, you can by a code reader pretty cheep, but they only tell part of the story. Most times, you are not getting all the codes, and just because you have a code for a particular sensor, that does not mean that the sensor is the problem. I guess what I am trying to say here is, maybe it is best to let the dealer do some service work for you, build some kind of a relationship with them so when something has to be done that is beyond your realm to fix, at least they will have you on record and it may help to get you to the top of the list.

Re: How does your Dealership treat you?

There is a scan tool offered for the VW Auto group cars called a VAGCOM that runs around $350. I wish something similar was offered for Jeeps.

Of course, on the sale side, I was less than thrilled with the run-around I got on my trade and I had to work hard to get it to something mildly acceptable...if I but another JGC in the future, I'll likely do the DC Group Buy if it's still available at that time.
I have had a similar experience. I'm from Chicago and wouldn't mind flying out to DC to pick up a Jeep from the dealership involved in the group buy. Hope they keep doing stuff like that in 2 years.

It's been going since Feb. 2013, I can't imagine them stopping it anytime soon.

Re: How does your Dealership treat you?

I am treated very well, like the valued customer that I am, who brought them a lot of business thru a group buy in the early days of the 2014 model year (March 2013).

Re: How does your Dealership treat you?

I bought my first-ever Jeep from Stevens Creek Jeep in San Jose, CA 2 years ago. They treated me well then, and they've done all its servicing over 38,000 miles.

I posted about them a while back: Stevens Creek Jeep in San Jose, CA: I'm happy, how about others?

I am a very happy customer of theirs.

Re: How does your Dealership treat you?

I have been visiting a dealership in North Carolina regularly since starting my degree programs here. I went to them originally when my Jeep Liberty was becoming a nightmare, and if I had been in the area when I decided to upgrade I would have definitely purchased my Grand Cherokee there.

While I don't always agree with any business on all issues, the service department there is pretty good for what I've gone in for. I have spoken with the lead mechanic often, and I book appointments ahead of time.

Now, if my Grand Cherokee's transmission blows at 36,001 miles, I might have a freak out haha. But all in all, I have been to a few Chrysler dealerships and I will say that I agree with many on the lack of services offered by dedicated luxury brands.
