How fast? I need mine not to go 56 in a 45 zone ;) It was a blind on-ramp - there he was waiting as I came around the corner.

Got pulled over this week, but only got a warning as I had no prior issues. Seemed a bit picky IMO, but I did not gripe to the officer.

It shouldn't be so much as how fast it will go, but more importantly WHERE it can go and how comfortable it is as it goes there, IMHO. Haven't had any issue going where I want, when I want and in total comfort. If I do need to get moving, the Hemi has enough snort to motivate it to highway speeds in about 7secs which is really decent for a heavy duty SUV. Now if I were on the Autobahn, I'd probably opt for an Audi A6 or Mercedes E-class if high speed is the requirement.

If it is like GM (am still learning), the FCO and restore are one byte values in the computer. Knowing which bytes and how to change, that is the question.

From another posting it appears that major tire companies can adjust the bytes since it is to match the speed rating of the tires and has little to do with the car.

If your cutoff is at 110, I suspect it has S or T rated tires, with H's it would be 125. Just another present from the US Gov. Tax dollars at work.

ps Police cars get special calibrations.

Padgett is correct...

Check the speed rating of your tires! Not to mention suspension and braking. A tuner should be out in the future allowing the govenor to be removed but I would not remove it until I made sure the Jeep could handle it.

As for the Autoban. Stay in the proper lane for your speed and your fine.

The WK2 is capable of higher speeds with the tires being he limiting factor,

I would not have governor removed unless I made sure I had two things in place:

1. V rated tires

2. Export/HD spec brakes

SRT is also lower and has extra pieces to control air flow under the body.

For a popular description see here but over the ton aerodynamic lift starts to become important. This is the reason for some of the strange motions (e.g. Carl Edwards incident) seen in NASCAR.

Of course the only real way to know is with a wind tunnel & strain gauges on each wheel. I suspect Chrysler has that information.

Personally am more interested in how it acts when pulling a trailer at 70.

My 2012 hemi Overland topped out at about 112 limited by computer. Went right to that w/o any flat spots. Tires are stock Latitude Tours T-rated so limit is warranted. Vehicle was as quite and smooth as 85 mph. No need to go that fast again but had clear interstate and no cars around. Keep my tire psi at about 36. Out west common speeds are 80 mph with quick squirts higher - no need for an SUV to go much faster but nice to know it can when you're passing on a 2 lane in Reservation country.
