How long does an order take?

Finally ordered an overland! I ordered it on Friday. Had to build it as the dealer couldn't locate a true blue with the indigo blue interior.

They told me it takes 6-8 weeks. Does that sound right? Possible for it to be ready sooner than that?

Re: How long does an order take?

It's possible but 6-8 weeks is more realistic.

I was told between 8 to 10 weeks.
I placed my order in mid January and got it in 4 weeks. Was very pleasantly surprised.

When a dealer "orders" a custom order vehicle, the first thing they do is check to see what Jeep has rolling out of the factory in the coming months. You may have noticed they tried to push you one way or another, skip this option or that, perhaps try and change your color choice. That's because they can see what's coming down the pipe.

8-10 weeks sounds like a true custom order. I saw some of my customer orders take 4 months

4 months? I certainly hope not! They did try pushing me for a different color and just a V6 instead of a V8. I told them I was stuck on the color and That Im not familar with V6's. I only know how to drive V8s!

Re: How long does an order take?

Please note that your dealer's allocation can also affect factory order time. Some smaller dealers have less allocation than larger, volume oriented retailers. If they've used their allocation for a month for that particular model and trim level, the actual order can't be officially entered until the following month's order banks open.

On the color thing, the plant just implemented an all new paint system that did curtail building JGCs of colors other than the monochrome shades from November until recently. But at this point, color shouldn't affect order times for new orders. A dealer pushing for a particular color is more likely related to either existing inventory or known orders in the pipeline. Selling technique, in other words.

In general 6-8 weeks is a reasonable assumption. Certain things like random inspections and transportation factors can potentially affect that.

Re: How long does an order take?

My 2014 Limited Ordered in July 2013 was supposed to take the usual 6-8 weeks but it came in 4 !!

Depends on Time of Year, Exact Model, Part Shortages, Order load etc.

Re: How long does an order take?

The dealer said that I would get email updates about the status of the order. Anyone else get such updates?

Yes you will get updates but they're notoriously outdated. The most current info can be found by becoming a premium member and your updates will be up to the minute.

Re: How long does an order take?

As it stands right now, my Summit Diesel is still in pre-release and it is 8 weeks this week. No sign of D1 status. Also from looking at others in my area of country, north Fl, it is taking 3 weeks after being produced to ship to dealer.
