You don't have to. Your country does it for you with your money.

What goes into a winter blend that would effect mpg?

Wow gas under $3/gallon in Southern CA. Was away for a month and when returned gas is $2.55 @ Arco in Yorba Linda.

Basically they step up quality in the summer to keep emissions down, then November they cut it causing a decrease in mileage and efficiency.
One of many excuses to make more money when it's convenient for the few that control most of the world

This sounds like something all the tree and bunny huggers came up with. In their annual meeting at the save the wales and the poor people convention.

Re: How much are you paying at the pump to fill up?

Makes sense some places but wonder if any change in Florida. Or do we get "more" summer blend than most. Read 83F today.

Other than that mpg always goes down in cold places in winter because it takes longer to warm up a cold engine so cold enrichment lasts longer. Gasoline is gasoline and as long as you don't start mixing in alcohol the btu/lb is pretty much constant. People with garages probably see less of a change.

What varies is mainly how fast it burns and Direct Injection pretty much cures that problem.

BTW 87 PON was $1.95/gal a few weeks ago but $2.05 is more common now.
