"Because". I think they likely did some kind of study and found that statistically, traffic in both directions was similar in vehicle count and given that, it's less expensive to have the tolls only on one side/direction. MD does the same on the I-95 toll just north of the Susquehanna River.

Re: How much are you paying at the pump to fill up?

Gas price was $2.09 for regular, but after buying a bunch of food for the food bank, I had enough points to get $.30 off. I normally fill up somewhere between 1/2 and 3/4 tank, but I let it go toward empty knowing I'd have the points coming.

Final price: $38.68 for 21.5 gallons @ $1.799 a gallon. I haven't paid that little since I bought my truck almost 18 years ago.

According to the little fuel logging app I use on my phone, the average price I've paid for the last 6 months was $2.17 a gallon. Over that same time, my average fuel economy has been 17.89 MPG, with the bulk of that in town.

Nah - if you had to pay to INTO Jersey, no one would ever go there. Likewise, paying to leave makes some people reconsider - assuming they figure out the secret route to get that far.

I swear, one time I went to a concert in Camden with some friends. We followed the signs to the highway, but it kept dumping us right back to where we started. It took 3 tries until we spotted the proper ramp shimmied in between two bridges with what appeared to be some sort of a national homeless convention occurring beneath them - barrel fires and everything.

I applied for a job in Newark years ago. About five minutes into the interview, I realized there was no way in any universe I wanted the job, mainly due to it being nothing like it was sold in the want ad. That was about 4 minutes longer than it too to realize I didn't want to live in Newark...
