Here in PA thanks to Corbett last year and adding more gas taxes, we are still at 2.23/gallon.

What's the percentage of counterfeit money returned to you? Paying cash does not exempt a person from being scammed.

Another disadvantage of paying cash is you are subsidizing the rewards programmes card companies charge the merchant for, without getting anything in return.

How much are you paying at the pump to fill up?

I paid $1.85 for 87 octane today in Omaha, and got a $1 off a touchless car wash with air dry for $7.48. The tank was over 3/4ths full already as I filled up 4 days ago for $1.69 with a 20 cent groceries discount.

$1.74 for 87 in Ringos NJ today. 'Light just went on and I filled up for just under $40 for 22.5 gallons.

Re: How much are you paying at the pump to fill up?

Greetings,

Here in The Big Apple, depending where you are, the lowest so far that I have seen last week, was $2.19 and high of $3.05 for self service regular. Of course, when I am in NJ, I fill up.

Best for now.

I've never lost a cent in my entire life because of counterfeiting. So why would I care?

This can be construed in two different possible ways.

1) You knowingly (and illegally) passed on the counterfeit money to others, hence no loss to you.
2) The counterfeit money was sufficiently passable in quality that you didn't notice it was fake.

U.S. Dept. of Treasury estimates $70 million in counterfeit bills are in circulation, or approximately 1 note in counterfeits for every 10,000 in genuine currency, with an upper bound of $200 million counterfeit, or 1 counterfeit per 4,000 genuine notes.

It all spent the same for him. So what's the problem?

  1. Nope
  2. Not doing well at that either. Pointers appreciated.
  3. I think it is made from some sort of fur from Canada, tinfoil not being that warm and it also interferes with the signals.
  4. Cash is reasonably handy for snack machines, tips, etc.
  5. ?? Your strip clubs accept credit/debit cards?
Running about 1.89/USAGallon for midgrade at the premium brands. Drop another dime if you get the overpriced car wash that does at least take a little bit of road salt off the undercarriage.

So what? Who gives a damn? I sure as hell don't. So it looks like you're in charge of worrying about it. Who checks currency for counterfeiting? I never have in my life, and I've only had money I've given a clerk checked at best a couple of times in the last 45 years. And that is because it was a old large bill, (C-Note). Besides, modern currency produced today is all but counterfeit proof. I've never lost a cent to ANY type of counterfeiting.

You are taking nothing, and are trying to make it into something by running interference with it......... Leaving never, never land behind, the fact is people get skimmed all the time. The news story I posted is commonplace all over the country. They get they're credit card numbers lifted left and right. It happens every day. Identity theft is a real problem. All of it is eliminated with cash. End of story. And that you're trying to make something out of. Give me a break.
