How much should i be paying?

I'm looking at a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland.
Below is the basic build I want. first offer from dealership is $47,552
This is what he sent below. How far are we from what is good deal?

The price with the 5.7, and the Off Road Advenure Group II would be $47,552 plus taxes, tags and DOC. This is after $500 rebate

Engine: 5.7L V8 MDS VVT
Off-Road Adventure II package
Electronic Limited Slip Differential Rear Axle
Quadra-Drive II 4WD System

Re: How much should i be paying?

I just ordered the same exact Overland with the addition of the engine block heater. But thats only around 90,00. Dealer is giving it to you for approx 1000.00 under invoice with an additional 500.00 for rebate. bringing your total to 1500.00. Not that bad of a deal but see if you can sqeeze dealer for 1500.00 under invoice plus the additional 500.00 rebate. That is what I got without even haggling. I was going to go with the DC group buy for a better deal but I kind of like having a good relationship with the selling dealer. Especially the service manager always good to grease them a little. Goes a long way when you have a service related issue. Well good luck with your purchase.

Re: How much should i be paying?

I got 4% below invoice locally on both my GC's without haggling.

Seriously consider Advanced Tech Group.
Read the threads on it.

Re: How much should i be paying?

Yea, Thanks for the reply.

I am looking for a particular number for my build.

The 4% number you have could possibly change, if the build is somewhat extreme all bells and whistles type, or could even go other way if it is bland with hardly any options, just a rare color combo.

This could also change if it is at end of month and they need to close on another sale before end of month/end of Qtr etc, as well ???

I like the dealership I am working with, and just want to have best deal I can get. I am just not sure anymore how far below invoice one can go these days, vehicle buying has changed a lot. The once great deal that I thought I got, on my Altitude, was 700 over invoice.

Re: How much should i be paying?

4% below invoice is an incredible deal but not many dealers willing to do that on an ordered vehicle. The sales manager said 1500.00 below invoice was the best he could do so I was happy with that plus I will be getting another 1500.00 in rebates when vehicle comes in 1000.00 for having a non Chrysler lease at present. And another 500.00 in bonus cash. So 3000.00 below invoice total discount. I felt that was a good enough deal. Like you say you can only squeeze so much. And like you I paid over invoice on my present car. By the way I see you are in Maryland have you looked into the DC group buy.

Re: How much should i be paying?

That's not too bad. I was looking at the 14's prior to getting mine with same options and dealer wanted 49k. 47 is reasonable but see how much lower they are willing to go.

I ordered my first one. I could order what ever I wanted and get 4% below invoice.

You asked how much you should be paying. Getting 4% below invoice on a custom order is very doable.

Group buys are doing 7% below invoice, and I'm sure they are still making money.

This last one I did get off the lot and end of month etc. I think helped me get very good money on my trade in. I got like $2000.00 over KBB Private Sale price and got 4% below invoice on the new one.

They will be happy to take your money if you want to pay more

Not to derail the op, but I didn't want to open a new thread for the same question.

I've got an offer for a new 14 Overland with the Hemi and Tech package for 43,300 out the door (minus taxes). What do you guys think? Should I press for lower?

Since you are in Maryland definitely take a look at the DC metro group buy which is 7% under invoice. You can buy it from the group buy and service it wherever you want if you have a dealer you like. You can also order one for that price if they don't have one you like. You can request the info at the link below.

(($invoice+options+$995) * .93) +$599 fee, minus any current incentives = Your price

Re: How much should i be paying?

look at truecar.com I have used them for 3 car purchases. The last one was my wife's highlander limited platinum. Local dealer did better than trucar. I am ordering a JGC overland 4X4 V6 w advanced tech soon and have been working with 6 different dealers. It will be a special order bc none has the exact vehicle. Best ive done so far is $44,800 This is a little better than the best truecar price and is a local dealer. Invoice is 46,900
