Am I going to be disappointed when I get a new Jeep? Is the 5.7 going to be slower than my old HO?

I can't even imagine a 6 cylinder engine in a Grand Cherokee, that would probably need to be floored all the time just to get it to move.
I think I can speak for almost everyone when I say that the reason we are flooring it isn't because of lack of power, but so that we can hear the hemi sing.

For merging and passing situations flooring it is never required as there is plenty if available power. Its just fun to do

The V6 can get you moving, just not as quickly as the Hemi

OK, that's cool, I have not had a chance to test drive a 12 WK2 yet so all this talk of flooring it had me a little worried.

In the intrest of fairness I will test drive a V6 too when I am a little closer to time to buy. But I think I read somewhere that the 6 does not come with a two speed transfer case.

A. I bought a '12 Laredo, V6 with QT-II. Has the 2 speed transfer case and Selec-Trac. Get either the ORA-I package or the All Weather package.

B. The V6 is fine. I floor it when I feel like it, and have not needed to stand on it to pass someone. A little extra, sure, but I've never needed to put the pedal down. Have I done it? Hell yes!

This is why I would never buy a used vehicle.

Re: How often do you floor it?

Put the pedal right down to the metal?
Rarely, very little need.
The Hemi has so much power, that where I used to have to floor my old V6 to get onto the highway at certain on-ramps,
now the GC w/hemi just accelerates like a jet. Maybe half-throttle at most.

I have tried to find top end, and noticed it stopped accelerating at 120 mph.
Are these rev (speed) limited?
What should they top out at?
(I was fiddling with the stick - I think I was in 5th or 6th gear, in SPORT mode)

I sold my 04 Ovi 4.7HO when I bought my WK2. Granted, it doesn't produce the immediate torque my 4.7 had, but doesn't give out of wind at anything over half pedal like the HO did either. It definately doesn't have the horrendous fuel economy the 4.7 did even on a premium fuel diet.

All and all I've been very happy stepping down 2 cylinders. I tow everything I did with the 4.7 with no problems. My only complaint with the V6 platform is not with the engine, but with the transmission. The shift points take a lil while to get used to.

2011, Overland Hemi.

I floor it everytime I see the ECO light...

BECAUSE no one likes trees anymore.

Your jeep is so slow that no one else knows your flooring it, they think you're just trying to keep up with their Geo.

Im sorry but that is about the most insane comment ive ever read. You wouldnt purchase a vehicle because someone drove it at wide open throttle? What the hell do you think the service guys are doing when they take it out on a test drive, I assure you there driving it harder than you obviously do
