How often do you floor it?

I'm curious if anyone else runs their jeep as hard as I do. I'm standing on it pretty much 2-3x per day. At least once for an on ramp and at least once going for a pass.

How about you?

I don't have a WK2 yet, but my previous 08 SRT8 I enjoyed and probably averaged flooring it once every day or two. The new WK2 Hemi sounded great on the test drive and has nice power, but on a test drive with the V6 I probably wouldn't floor that thing too often. Sounded like it was being strained kind of and I wasn't used to a little V6 sound coming from a big suv.

Your jeep is so slow that no one else knows your flooring it, they think you're just trying to keep up with their Geo.

Even though I drive anywhere between 400 to 1000 miles per week I rarely need to completely floor it to pass someone or enter the freeway.

However I still drive a 2004 Overland with the 4.7HO engine. I am a little worried at reading how often you guys need to floor it with your new WK2s.

Am I going to be disappointed when I get a new Jeep? Is the 5.7 going to be slower than my old HO?

I can't even imagine a 6 cylinder engine in a Grand Cherokee, that would probably need to be floored all the time just to get it to move.

I think I can speak for almost everyone when I say that the reason we are flooring it isn't because of lack of power, but so that we can hear the hemi sing. :)

For merging and passing situations flooring it is never required as there is plenty if available power. Its just fun to do ;)

In the intrest of fairness I will test drive a V6 too when I am a little closer to time to buy. But I think I read somewhere that the 6 does not come with a two speed transfer case.

Im sorry but that is about the most insane comment ive ever read. You wouldnt purchase a vehicle because someone drove it at wide open throttle? What the hell do you think the service guys are doing when they take it out on a test drive, I assure you there driving it harder than you obviously do:thumbsup::lol:

Put the pedal right down to the metal?
Rarely, very little need. :D
The Hemi has so much power, that where I used to have to floor my old V6 to get onto the highway at certain on-ramps,
now the GC w/hemi just accelerates like a jet. Maybe half-throttle at most.

I have tried to find top end, and noticed it stopped accelerating at 120 mph.
Are these rev (speed) limited?
What should they top out at?
(I was fiddling with the stick - I think I was in 5th or 6th gear, in SPORT mode)

I don't floor it, but I do give it way more gas, everyday then all of these other drivers that seem obsessed with driving the same speed in the left lane as the person to their right, so I end up passing on the right often. My license plate is 2QK4U2C. I just wish people in the left lane weren't always in my way. I think to myself, get the F out of my lane.

Ditto. They even have signs out here that say keep right except to pass and slower traffic keep right. These stupid people don't get it till I'm riding their asses flashing my highbeams at them or passing them on the right.

Almost never do I "floor it"...the only reason I would would be for safety reasons, such as trying to get out of my own driveway at "rush hour" (which is almost all day these days because of the stone trucks) or to pass something quickly due to some other safety factor.

Oh hell yes! Every time I drive it I floor it at least once or twice. Love the sound of my Volant and BlastinBob's straight mufflers. And, it loves it.
