Re: How Reliable has your WK2 been? Post up!

My Jeep is still in the shop for the transfer case. They said to have cured the vibration at speed, however they are having the Field Tech from MI come and check it out on Thursday, so they are keeping the Jeep there till then. The report was that while more subtle, even the brand new Grand Cherokees with Quadra Trac II make a rubbing noise at 5mph. Is anyone else experiencing this besides myself and JP467? I have a 2011 JGC laredo with Quadra Trac I and it does not make the noise. Hard to justify my top of the line Overland being less refined than the base Laredo.

I really want to know if anyone else is experiencing a noise at 5mph. The tech is coming to see if it's normal or if this is a problem with all Grand Cherokees that will happen as the miles pile on. I'm extremely disappointed. I didn't spend $40k+ to drive rental cars.

Once I hear back on from the dealer on Thursday I am going to see what they can do for my as far as getting my out of this Jeep. I don't trust it anymore and I'm tired of it. I'd like to see them give me a deal on a later build date 2011 on the lot and they can take this car. Any thoughts?? Will I be opening a new can of worms? If not, i'm keeping the jeep a few more months depending on how many more problems I get, then trading the thing in for a used BMW X5. We have a 2011 535i X-drive we got and june, already has 3600 miles and NO issues. Love that car, and I have been driving it a lot because it's smells better than my rental.

Hemi Overland
owned for 4 months
2600 miles
Minor trim issues including trim around steering wheel not flush, cooled seat making noise, had brkn plastic in it, and plastic cowl trim under wipers was warped and replaced and now warped again. Overall more issues than my '06 SRT8 Jeep but I can kind of understand being a first model year.

Re: How Reliable has your WK2 been? Post up!

9 months, 18,000 miles now of driving, towing, and record Texas summer heat, half of that with oversize wheels and tires. No issues. Had the ESC TSB applied and it runs better now than ever, very happy with it.

5.7 Overland "Loaded"!

4 months

2650 miles

With the exception of a nagging "rattle" in the panoroof, and some quirky behavior with the 730 RHR, it's been GREAT!

Re: How Reliable has your WK2 been? Post up!

I have my 2011 V6 Laredo X trail rated with the quadra-lift since the beginning of February of this which now has 7,000 miles on it. The good, with a few computer updates as it applies to my vin, the GC is better than ever. The bad, the quadra-lift is acting up again (just like the Land Rover, MB, etc. comes with the territory).

Would I buy this SUV again. With out a doubt. This is absolutely a beautiful vehicle. V6 has plenty of power for me, rides smooth and you can not feel the minor road bumps in this tank. And the gas MPG on the V6 is pretty good.

Best for now.

It's funny when they don't know what the problem is one of the first things they all say is they all do that. The very first time I took mine in for this issue they said they drove another one and it made the same noise. I can tell you the overland I have now has quadra drive which is the same transfer case and it does not make any rubbing noise. When the field engineers came out on mine they removed the rear drive shaft and took it for a drive and the noise was not there put it back in and the noise came back. That along with some listening devices they put under the jeep was how they were able to narrow it down to the transfer case.

Re: How Reliable has your WK2 been? Post up!

The dealer replaced the transfer case, the noise was much more subtle, but still there. They said the new ones make the noise, but are even more subtle than my car with the new transfer case. Anyway, if they tell me it is fixed, which i don't believe it is since an Engineer from MI is coming to look at my car, I will make sure to drive other 2011's before taking delivery of my Jeep. At this point I want out of my current Jeep. I will know more on Thursday. I'm not happy that I spent this much money on a new car and I'm driving around in a rental base Laredo. It will be very difficult paying for this months car payment given I haven't even driven the car. It will be even more difficult to buy a new Jeep if Chrysler Corp, Jeep, and my dealer do not step up and make this right and make me happy. I've been out of my car for over 2 weeks straight.

Re: How Reliable has your WK2 been? Post up!

2011 Overland Hemi 4x4

1) 4 1/2 months
2) 4500 km ~ 2600 mi
3) Air suspension had to be flashed at 200km - no problems since
Faulty driver seat memory switch at delivery - fixed under warranty
Tear in drivers side rear CV boot -noticed during first oil change at 4000km - replaced entire axle shaft under warranty.

Even with these issues, I am still very happy with the GC. It's an amazing vehicle and does exactly what I need.

On a note about Chrysler service, when I had the jeep in for the axle shaft, instead of a shitty rental I managed to get them to give me a 2011 Ram Sport off the lot for the day and night...very nice truck
