Interesting thing about the sales director, whereas everyone else always wanted to call, he responded to my voicemail by email. I initially stated that I wouldn't be going ahead with the purchase, and wanted my funds returned. I made several points, but he's sticking to his position of deposit on factory order being non refundable.

I think I'm going to give him a chance to deliver this Saturday. Otherwise, I think my only remaining moves left would be to threaten to file a consumer complaint with my state's attorney general.

Re: How to cancel factory order without losing deposit

Vehicle was damaged in transit. Just tell dealer you are working with your lawyer and will be in touch. You shouldnt have to accept a vehicle that was damaged. Call Chrysler and complain and say you want you deposit back or they can build you a new one but you will not accept this one.

If it was me I would just say build me a new one or give me my deposit back.
No negotiation and no waiting to see how it looks etc. Jeep and dealer are at fault.

Post this on the other forum which is monitored by Cs rep from Jeep and he will take care of you.

That is an excellent suggestion!

Re: How to cancel factory order without losing deposit

As long as the damage isn't bigger than a credit card, it's acceptable for a lease return.

I'd ask to transfer the deposit to another vehicle order. If they don't accept that call Chrysler and see if they help. If you get your money back then make sure to point out they couldn't still gotten the sale on a different vehicle and then go to another dealership.

Re: How to cancel factory order without losing deposit

I'm still trying to figure out why they CHARGED you a deposit IN THE FIRST PLACE?

Why do some of you guys have to go through this?

These dealerships are con artists! They'll sell the freaking cars if someone backs out! And if they don't sell them, that's what DEALER TRADES are for!!!

Re: How to cancel factory order without losing deposit

Between the time it left the factory in perfect condition (I have on good authority ), my Jeep got a little damage. The dealer had it fixed at a local body shop, and if it wasn't for this picture I wouldn't even remember exactly what it looked like. I only hand wash my Jeep, and there is no sign of any paint damage. Well, except for the little dent in the roof that I decided to leave as is.

Don't sweat the small stuff.

Re: How to cancel factory order without losing deposit

Bill, WHY did you have to remind me about that?

I'm still ticked off.

Stuff like that I have an issue letting go of. The only real reason is because it wasn't our fault but the stupid shipping company!

... I only wish that *we* could handle that.

Sorry about that.

I just wanted to remind people that whether it's a Jeep, a Rolls, or a Hyundai, they are all just a pile of metal and plastic. If it was painted once it can be painted again. And as nice as any vehicle is, one day you are going to send it on its way and bring in a new one.

It's OK to blow off a little steam and feel frustrated, but it's best to get over it and enjoy the good stuff in life.
