Why do some of you guys have to go through this?
These dealerships are con artists! They'll sell the freaking cars if someone backs out! And if they don't sell them, that's what DEALER TRADES are for!!!
Because they can. I thought I was an educated consumer. I researched the crap out of what I wanted, test drove multiple vehicles, found this site with the ordering and pricing info too. I was pretty proud of myself for negotiating 3% under invoice, that took a while. When the sales manager said they'll place the factory order, but only if I put down a deposit, I said fine. The thought of a vehicle getting damaged in transit never entered my head. I had no idea I'd eventually want to cancel a deal where I'm getting exactly what I want for a good price.
That said, if everything looks good on Saturday, that's my best option. I was able to wait before, but my situation has changed and I really need a second vehicle now, so waiting for a new one to be built, or spending weeks fighting are choices I'd like to avoid.
bill_de, thanks for sharing that. The things I saw weren't nearly that bad, makes me more confident the little stuff will be fixed.
If there's a thread or an area on this forum with dealership recommendations/condemnations, let me know. After my deal is over, maybe I can warn others and spare them some hassle.
