how to change battery on keyfob?

I don't see any screws. I don't want to start prying on it without knowing for sure.

The last couple of weeks, I've notice if I go up to my car and grab the handle, the vehicle wont unlock on the 1st or 2nd try at times. New battery is the cheapest option to troubleshoot.

There are no screws...you pry it open carefully with a flat object...there should be an indentation in one end of the fob to get you started. Your remote is different than mine so I can't tell you exactly where that indentation is. You likely do need to release the metal emergency key from the fob to do this, too...I do on mine.

Got it open. Just pry on the indentation you mentioned and popped open. Was a pain snapping it back together though.

Battery is a 2032 for those wondering. Now need to find one at the store.

I order them from Amazon in a multi-pack for a great price.

Is there a general rule of thumb on when you need to change the battery? Or is it time when you notice that you have to be practically standing next to it for the hatch to release.

With mine I have to be directly behind it maybe 10 feet away for the rear hatch to open. But others on her have said that they can me 50 feet away at it opens when they push the button??

The EVIC will display "Key Fob Battery Low", but by then it's pretty obvious the battery is about to die.

True, mine was giving me clues before the messages, I was getting some doors intermittently not unlocking and then message saying "Keyfob not detected" when starting the vehicle.

Looks like the battery is very sensitive to battery voltage.

Manufacture date in my GC is Aug 2013.

2.5 years seems decent I think.

Found a twin pack at Home Depot when I was grabbing other things. $6

Re: how to change battery on keyfob?

I find Duracell 2032 batteries last two years in my "active" remotes for my street glide....as opposed to a year and a bit for off-brand batteries.

Amazon.....I bought 20 for a good price a few years ago...need to buy another batch.
9 remotes, 2 bike alarm pagers, 3 apple TV remotes...and a couple others...
