Even so...time is a killer. What they want to do is turn it over straight away...

Re: How to negotiate

I think they wanted to make sure I bought from them as opposed to the other huge dealer in the area. They won me over for life.

Re: How to negotiate

Could very well have been, and they figured they at least wouldn't loose money on your trade.

You can try negotiating without mentioning it and if you get a better price, bring out the tread lightly and see if they will take an additional 1% of invoice off the price. If you can't negotiate a below invoice price without it and you are sure they won't go lower, then use the tread lightly program and take the 1% below invoice price, or try another dealer. It seems not all dealers are willing to negotiate as aggressively as others.

Re: How to negotiate

Yes, Email and Internet is the best way by far. I emailed 5-6 dealers in the Denver metro area, got PDF quotes with trade in values for my 2005 GC Laredo, and very completive prices. Finally got the best deal with the closest dealer. And they trucked in the exact 2012 GC LTD in from a dealer 300 miles away at no added cost!

So we pay invoice minus 1% AND receive incentives? Is that correct? If so, that's great news!

This is true. I used Tread Lightly and got 1% below invoice. The dealers were very excited to see that I had it. There were no incentives when I bought my 2012 WK2 in October unfortunately for me. I got a GREAT price on my trade; I don't know if having the Tread Lightly helped with my trade in price or not.

Well they get reimbursed with those afil programs. They can get you a lower price at less cost to them.
