How to reject delivery in case of problems?

I foresee 2 possible issues:

1) Vehicle configuration not as ordered - I know exactly want I want and don't want anything different

2) Vehicle sustained some damage in transit. I will be probably be told "this will buff right out" but I don't think I should accept anything but perfect condition.

Re: How to reject delivery in case of problems?

1) Depends on the dealer; I'd imagine they'd either refund your deposit and you walk on out or make another order if it can't be brought to rights (wrong stereo is one thing; wrong paint job or engine is something else). For this I'd put the deposit on a card and just dispute it if they refused to play ball.

2) Depends on the damage. Some nicks in the paint, I'd just have them fix. Bent into a pretzel, there's a problem. I've not heard of somebody ordering a vehicle and the dealer trying to get the buyer to ignore significant damage- not that it doesn't happen, but the buyer would have to be seven kinds of stupid to do that.

If you are working with a reputable dealer, I wouldn't worry about either.

Re: How to reject delivery in case of problems?

Joe, you are getting paranoid about this order! For #1, decide if you can live with any discrepancy, or if not, walk away from it. Sucks to wait again, but it will be the better approach. As I stated in another thread, make sure they agree to refund your deposit if the order is not to your liking. #2, the dealer is responsible to check the vehicle when it is off-loaded from the truck. If you see something they didn't, they will have to pay for the fix. This means that they are very good at examining for a problem, and can pin it on the trucking company for reimbursement. The most you will likely find is a paint chip during transit, and this will already be known by the dealer.

Make sure you don't sign any lease or loan contract before looking over your truck. Once signed you are obligated.

How did I end up in here Jim.. lol

Im not paranoid, but I want my Jeep!

I'm not good at waiting.. So the sooner the better and had it been on the lot I would have preferred that

But its a lot of money, and ordering something you have never seen the way you ordered it, as people will do with the saddle/mineral grey etc..., makes you wonder I suppose.

But all the questions being asked by you Joe, I've probably asked the dealership. Asking us on the forum is a great insight and a way to do some research, but its not the 100% reality until you get it from the mouth of the dealership itself!

I'm not sure N.Y has this. Anyways, even if they did, I don't think I would rely on it. it's just easier to go over it with a fine tooth comb before I sign any paperwork.

I don't expect dealer to tell me how to protect myself from being taken advantage of

That's not true. You are not under any obligation until you drive off the lot. Then, most states have a contract grace period.

5.7Unlimited is just really nice
Re: How to reject delivery in case of problems?

Hey Joe, I'd be in the same boat as you when ordering a new vehicle. I personally would expect the Jeep to be in absolute 100% flawless perfect condition or I would not accept it. Personally if a nick in the paint had to be 'repaired' that would be unacceptable to me becuase I want a brand new vehicle not a refurbished one I would take a friend that also has a keen eye for this sort of thing, and give it a real good look over. If there are paint related things I would refuse delievery and im sure they would order a new one or return deposit. if something like the stereo is wrong, they will put the right one in and I bet they wouldnt have any problems with it.
