Re: I am getting spooked

As I understand it the fires have been small. But just in case, I always carry in my new GC a long wooden stick, marshmellows, Hersey's chocolate bars, and graham crackers. I am s'more ready just in case!

Seriously, any vehicle has issues. That is why there are lemon laws.

My only issue is that it took 11 weeks to get my order. So far, excellent vehicle.

Re: I am getting spooked

+1 to the positive comments above. love this rig. Below link is to my short-term review of the WK2 from a while back. Several thousand miles later, these points are still valid.

Re: I am getting spooked

Go for it. Of 75,000 made only 2 fires that we know about. I have 1100 miles and no problems. I love the comfort, handling and utility. Great all around vehicle.

This vehicle had been in production since May 2010, so the early bugs are already detected and corrected. Vehicles on lots are brought up to date prior to delivery.

Re: I am getting spooked

Two fires, 75,000 made?

HOLY MOTHER LOVING HELL!!! STOP THE PRODUCTION LINES!!! SHUT DOWN EVERYTHING!!!

Seriously, calm down.

The vast majority of buyers are very happy with their vehicles. Most issues seem to be the garden variety early production things, mine has suffered only from minor trim issues that are easily fixed.

You can find lemons from anybody. If you get enough of a sample size from any vehicle from any automaker, you'll find issues like these. One will have a bad engine, one will have transmission issues, one will have burned itself to a crisp, etc.

So would round Buckeye stickers for every good day be out of the question?

Thank you for all the input!
Strangely enough I traded in an 03 Mini Cooper S to get my Magnum in 05.

Re: I am getting spooked

The WK2 has a lower failure rate than the Space Shuttle program, and thus is statistically closer in fact to a "zero defect" platform. Compare the mega-billions invested in NASA to whatever Chrysler has spent developing this JGC, and you'll agree our Jeeps are a wonderfully engineered (obviously not perfect), fun to drive, outstanding value in personal transportation. Just buy the dang thing already!!! The longer you wait to order, the longer you are gonna wait, desperate to get it in your garage!

Re: I am getting spooked

Nada except needing to get a few TSB's done. Bought a Laredo X off the lot.

I replaced my 2000 GJC with this 2011 and my wife has a 2002 JGC. There are bound to be a few lemons with anything, but given the general population of comments here I'd say people are generally very happy (not just settling for an ok vehicle).

Re: I am getting spooked

Look at this message board on the 2011 Ford Explorer - i feel like they are pretty much the same topics - order dates, headlights/foglights, incentives, front seat issues, etc -

http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/...play.php?f=152

Further clicking on How do you like your explorer

http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/...d.php?t=310866

some of my favorites
1) I wish the terrain selector would stay on the last position instead of always having to pick SNOW( Canada) lol
2) sync is a littl slow but still kicks but for features
4) my BB doesn't always connect to bluetooth
1. Like others have said, the hazard tab is probably not in the best spot and I have set if off quite a few times.
2. MFT while cool, pretty much gives me a headache learning it. I'm better after 4 days, but we still don't get along all the time.
3. I want to just enjoy the X and the ride, but keep getting caught up in all the trick stuff and can't figure the wi-fi out to save my life yet.

Point being every car manufacturer has issues once in awhile - anyone who's owned a Range Rover knows more about this anyone

You have to accept the fact that anytime you buy the first series of something new there are going to be issues and not even 5 years from now every WK2 produced will be perfect. It's a lot different to have 20 guys testing the first of the 2011 WK2's that are built knowing they are going to be tested for a few thousand miles and beating them up to what now some thousands of testers (general public) out there?

Some people have issues, most don't, work with your dealer if you do. Most everything on the car is completely new for the dealer as well. Give them as much information on problems so they can relay it back to Chrysler and get things figured out - this is a new vehicle in maybe a new class of competitors.
