Re: I have never seen anything like this.

My dealer shared the train company name & yard location along with the trucking company. I called with the VIN and inquired when the WK2 would be delivered to the
dealership. Each was extremely helpful and gave me an exact date. I never said I was employed by the dealership. Just called to confirm if the vehicle was on their lot and an estimated eta to the dealership. My sales guy was amazed.

Delays are to be expected when you order the top of the line trim with additional options.

It's just a vehicle, relax, you'll get it eventually.

Agreed that the WK2 has raised the bar beyond Chryco and Dealer customer service abilities and standards. Fortunately, the internet and other pricing programs such as TL makes the sales experience reasonably painless. It's not enough though, and certainly won't help with post purchase needs.

Gotta say, I'm lucky enough to have found a great service department at a dealer different than that where the purchase was done. The service managers and wrenches show incredible pride in this rig, and seem pleased to make it happen. In this case, they even encourage and are interested in owner DIY mods. Pleasant surprise thus far.

I would bet your business isn't half as complex as Chrysler's.

Re: I have never seen anything like this.

All, with all of you that have been unhappy, make sure IF you get a customer satisfaction survey that you fill it out. A lot of people just throw these things away as junk mail, but you really should take the time to complete these because they are looked at by the manufacturers. If you don't get a survey, that tells you the dealer does not give a crap.

I have a great dealer that I have been using for years. Not to say they are perfect, but bygosh when they are not they make sure to make it right. Every time I go in for service within a day or two I get a survey from them via email for me to rate my experience.

While I agree with your second sentence, I don't know how your first sentence has anything to do with a guy who's truck has been sitting on a rail car for a days a few miles from his dealership. End of the day a new car is the second biggest purchase most people ever make so I certainly don't blame a guy for being excited.

Re: I have never seen anything like this.

My dealer has no info. Ordered Jan 29, 2011. MIlous says he has nothing more than "D". Called Jeep today, they hve nothing. Just saying it's being built. No idea when it started. I thought "D" means it was in qeue, but not actually being built.
Calling my dealer today.

I don't blame him for being excited either, I totally understand that. But taking a hissy fit and saying that if he doesn't have it by Monday he's cancelling the purchase...well...that's just childish. He will get it, it's a matter of when, not if. He will be getting an awesome vehicle that he will very much enjoy for years to come. Waiting a few more days isn't the end of the world.

You'll get your Jeep dude, just be a little more patient! It will be worth it!!

Re: I have never seen anything like this.

RageOfFury makes some good points. I have been buying new cars for over 40 years. American ones have been factory ordered. New and low demand factory options will slow the process, but the vehicle will arrive and you will enjoy it.

As far as the train is concerned... my Limited was ordered Jan. 7, no factory options, shipped the first week of Feb., and arrived 500 miles later at the end of Feb. So the trip look about as long as the manufacture, but I have it and enjoy it.

Last time I ordered a Chrysler product was a 1972 Duster as the slant 6 engine had a great reputation. It took an additional month to get as it sat on the side of the assembly line waiting for the positraction axle which I ordered. You need to factor these things in when ordering.

Re: I have never seen anything like this.

Look....I have continuously owned a Grand Cherokee since when they first came out in the fall of 1992....I have bought I think 6 new ones and also 1 new Wrangler at the same time too. With this most recent purchase I will have easily bought over $250,000.00 worth of new Jeeps. That is pretty darn good loyalty...especially to an American brand...and I'm not old.

So, my comments are not Jeep bashing...heck I'm buying a top of the line Summit...but is constructive and realistic criticism where Jeep needs to improve.

A built sold order sitting in a rail yard for 2-3 weeks is simply unacceptable and asinine. There is NO excuse for such business laziness...no excuse whatsoever, period.

With respect to price regarding one of the comments above...get real, the TL pricing is fair and in no way cutting anyone out of the food chain anything unreasonably....not Jeep, not the dealer.

The simple fact is getting a sold vehicle to the customer is a weak link and poor dealerships is the weakest link in the chain. I want Jeep to succeed but in some respects they are their own worst enemy. Which is unfortunate.

Re: I have never seen anything like this.

Why can't your dealer just go get it? My dealer had it labeld a "Hot" delivery and they picked it up and I had it the same day. They don't like to but they can do it.
