Re: I have never seen anything like this.

I got the same treatment here guys!
I visited my dealer, told him how educated I was on the WK2 and that I'm an "enthusiest" and looking forward to getting a new one.

Didn't offer me a drive, didn't offer to even unlock the only up-spec one he had on the lot, didn't give me firm pricing when i asked, didn't try to sit me down and chat or put pen to paper.... basically, didn't farkin care!
So I left, and rather than keeping my business local I will be shopping HARD over the phone to screw the best deal on the vehicle I want.

That only works in the movies....

Actually, I think yours was on its way already and the dealer makes up some BS to make it look like they had something to do with it...

joebinotto,

Great dealer you have there. What kind of service are you going to get when you really need it?

Re: I have never seen anything like this.

You could buy a nice Mercedes that costs 3x as much and get the joy of having it sitting in a port for 30 days waiting for a clearance, then find out its been touched up due to damage during transit... It happens, more often then you would think.

It sucks, but logistics costs are a huge concern and while the system is not always perfect there is usually a dollar figure that goes along with it.

Re: I have never seen anything like this.

Ordered my 2011 JGC from dealer and drove home 22 days later! Factory invoice even has my name on it, so dealer didn't locate or change existing order.

If you don't get a survey, that tells you the dealer does not give a crap.

I have a great dealer that I have been using for years. Not to say they are perfect, but bygosh when they are not they make sure to make it right. Every time I go in for service within a day or two I get a survey from them via email for me to rate my experience.
our experience was great. our dealer worked with us, and even added equipment. they gave us a demo to use until the additional equipment was installed. we put almost 1400 miles on it. they drove ours to us so we did not have to wait for a weekend, as they were 200 miles away. we received follow up emails on how we were liking the product, and they even offered to pay our local dealer for the fist oil change, again because they are so far away. i hate you guys have had such a rough time, but i think it is a dealer thing. Don Jackson in Atlanta has a return customer when i decide to buy another one.

Yeah, you're missing the point but thanks. The problem here is transporting a Jeep 120 miles or allowing me to pick it up. It's not rocket science.

Re: I have never seen anything like this.

^^^ Absolutely agree...let us pick them up (and save the $780). It doesn't take 2-3 weeks to ship a SOLD order...unless you don't give a sh*t about delivering great customer service. It isn't like we're buying a $12K little car here. We're talking about nearly a $50K vehicle...probably worth more than the average home price within the Detroit city limits.

Actually that would be kinda fun ... something like a poor mans' "Euro Delivery". In that case, I would have ordered for a summer build, then picked up the JGC, bopped around the upper Midwest and turned the whole thing into a driving vacation.

Of course they (Chrysler) would have to have a delivery center and so forth -- so although they could potentially reduce the $780 they might want to charge something to recoup the capital cost and operating expense for the delivery center. You'd still actually be buying the vehicle from your local dealer (wonder how the taxes would work?)

Re: I have never seen anything like this.

^^^ Taxes wouldn't be a big deal since that would be settled when you register your vehicle / plate it.

There are plenty of empty buildings in the Detroit area that you can pick up for next to nothing....seriously. Detroit has a program to buy a home for $1 if you maintain it and pay the taxes on it (granted you'll need to do some fix ups and the neighborhood is sketchy, but it's on the dollar menu). Reminds of the old joke about real estate prices in Detroit and Three Mile Island...they do go down to zero or even negative value. Top of the line executive homes that once were $1M-$1.5M (which is a high price for the midwest...you get a lot of house) were going for around $400K in the last two years. It really is bad there...so glad the GC is a winner to provide jobs (but they need to work faster darn it!).

Re: I have never seen anything like this.

I waited 20 months, from April 2009 to December 2010, to get my Overland, and it was worth the wait! Sorry for you hassles, but letting go of my '93 Grand Cherokee could only have been a good thing because my 2011 is so awesome. Hang in there ...
