I still owed around $7,000. The trade in was more than the vehicle, so no sales tax. I borrowed a few thousand which I'll pay off next month, which gave me an extra $500 in rebates.

The seats are more comfortable than the Jeep. Very quiet, but the ride on rough roads is better in the Jeep. As an on road car it has most of the amenities that the Jeep has. I have a loaner today and will pick mine up tomorrow. On the way home I couldn't find some buttons, and at 55 I didn't want to search for stuff. The voice commands for radio and HVAC worked very well.

I don't expect it to be a Jeep, but I think it will serve me well. If not, or if fish return to Delaware, I will look at what they do to the GC for the 2016 anniversary edition.

I wouldn't want to waste my Lifetime Membership to Jeep Garage.

You sure your car doesn't have the airbag recall?

Edit: Holy shit, sorry Bill, but this reads too funny.

Ford recalling 850,000 cars and SUVs for airbag issues - Autoblog

"With 850,000 vehicles affected, it's no surprise that some of Ford's volume leaders are covered. That includes the Fusion and Lincoln MKZ sedans, as well as the incredibly recall-prone Escape and the C-MaxMPV."

You will feel right at home then, from one recall machine to another.
I did look at the recall, but what I saw did not include the '15s. When they do pop up this dealer will give me a loaner.

As far as the owners manual, remind them to get the latest version.

I was a Ford guy since the 70's, until I got the GC. Unloaded a 2004 Escape with 123K miles, mostly due to issues with rust, it was the last year for a lockable 4WD system. It was well taken care of but the rear upper shock mounts had rusted through, pretty common and not economically repairable. The link is for a good new Escape forum and also a great resource for Ford.

WTF is going on....

If things like that happen, the end is near!

Hey, even though you don't own a Jeep anymore, you are part of this community so it would be great to "read" from you once in a while. Look at me: I don't have my Jeep yet and still managed more than 1,000 posts...

Oh, I almost forgot: Congrats on your new ride! Ford is also great (see my current sig).

At least you didn't switch to GM....

Well you do live in Florida, I hear that Oxys make some people a bit hyper.

Thanks, SNUKE!

Thanks to your post, I just found out my MKZ is affected, too...

Like rats leaving a sinking ship...I don't blame you in the least Bill trading in your GC. I regret my 2nd Grand Cherokee purchase everytime it downshifts into first.

BTW, my 75 yr old Mother owns one of those Fords...2013 Titanium to be exact...she loves it!

Re: I have no pending recalls ...

Not Bill!!! It only seems like there are a few of us left from the beginning of the 2014 talks back in 2012 that still come on the forums. I'm sad to see you let the jeep go but I do understand the reasons behind it. What makes you happy is all we can ask for. Please don't be a stranger to the forums and come back soon. I think Jim or Tom was the 1st of us to get his new Jeep and hopefully he doesn't get the urge to get rid of it anytime soon.

Re: I have no pending recalls ...

Good luck with your new Ford.

My Dad swore by Ford LTDs for the longest time. I looked at the 2013 Ford Edge when I bought the 2014 Jeep and almost got a Ford Escape when I bought my Murano in 2003. Back then, the Escape sounded and rode like trucks (harsh with little sound insulation). I'm sure that they have improved quite a bit since.

Too bad he ain't rich, he could keep both and drive one while the other is in the shop, then switch vehicles and shops.

I'll miss his obvious familiarity with vehicle insurance...
Maybe we should chisel 7 slots in the grille of his new ride so he gets confused and sticks around.
