I ask because my commute to work is about 50 minutes in the morning, and after a remote start, the heat for the steering wheel and drivers seat stays on all that time...doesn't shut off until I do it manually.
It doesn't seem to have a timer.
The heated wheel seems to get rather warm at first, but after several minutes of driving it sorta seems to settle down to a constant warmish temperature.
I haven't had mine shut off in over a couple hours of steady driving.

[dunno about seats, never leave them on very long]

Re: I love my 2014 Limited

According to the manual:
"When the HI-level setting is selected, the heater will
provide a boosted heat level during the first four minutes
of operation. Then, the heat output will drop to the
normal HI-level. If the HI-level setting is selected, the
system will automatically switch to LO-level after approximately
60 minutes of continuous operation. At that
time, the display will change from HI to LO, indicating
the change. The LO-level setting will turn OFF automatically
after approximately 45 minutes."
That's under normal operation using the soft keys. I couldn't find anything
about operating parameters using remote start.

Re: I love my 2014 Limited

Not really a problem for me, but others have expressed concerns. There is a software update available so you don't have to push a button to restart the hvac when you open the drivers door after remote start.

Re: I love my 2014 Limited

I've had a couple of minor issues with my 14 Hemi, nothing that I would have even thought twice about, but some people on this forum think is worth going to thermal nuclear war with Chrysler over (I am not patronizing those that truly have had significant issues as we all know every manufacture has X number of duds, unfortunately).

Love the truck, tows, hauls, smooth, quite, powerful... I am all the way to the right on the meter as of almost 5k miles.

It's a feature. Hvac blasts on startup and goes back down to last setting when vehicle was last shutdown upon opening the door. It ensures everything is warm and windows are clear.

It needs to leave "auto comfort" things on though. Which I believe is what was fixed.

It depends on your build date what happens when you open the driver's door. My '14 is an old codger, built in early April, so the climate system shuts off when I open the driver's door after remote start. Doesn't matter what it's set at, but it does function on remote start, so it's comfy when I get in. The update will change this behavior.

My March build used to stay in auto mode all the time ... light lit. But, the fan would be on low until I opened the door. The only difference I notice after the update is that the auto light is off until I open the door. I sometimes remote start while I fill the bird feeder, just so the engine runs a minute or two before I back out of the garage. I never let it idle long enough to warm/cool the interior. But, it only take a short time for the cabin to get comfortable once I take off.

Re: I love my 2014 Limited

I'm not sure what the build date is but I bought it on April 1st so I guess it's an older one. We rarely need a heater but the ac does work with remote start and it's on high until I open the door then it's on low until I push the start button then it's back to auto.

Re: I love my 2014 Limited

My problem must be that I never use auto. I guess I'm a control freak.
