Re: I see what people mean by a misaligned hatch.....

I also have a hatch that is out of line on the driver side. I also noticed the rear window was glued in a little crooked. The glass is now hitting the body on the passenger side at the top of the window. Probably always has but I hadn't noticed it until now. Guess I need to get it back in and have it adjusted.

Then why didn't the dealer do it during the pre-inspection?

Because that means they (the dealership) would have to actually DO SOMETHING FOR FREE.

God forbid...right?

Re: I see what people mean by a misaligned hatch.....

Here is my former 12 OS misaligned hatch. Even started ruining the bumper on bottom chafing away paint. Dealer said it was working as designed no issues found lol. What can I say lol.

Re: I see what people mean by a misaligned hatch.....

Just picked up a 2014 Limited last week, manufacture date was July 4. The hatch is perfectly centered. It was one of the things that I checked when picking up my Jeep after reading this this thread.

They work on the 4th of July?

In any event, I saw a Summit at a local dealer today. The hatch was lined up, but tail light lens affixed to the hatch misaligned with the corresponding body mounted piece on the driver's side.

the top tail light post (where it clicks into the body on the front edge) on that side was not screwed in all the way. Really simple fix, check the owners manual section on replacing the tail bulbs on how to pull the entire assy out. 5 minute fix.

I had stuffed some foam in to set the gap out but another member mentioned the post not being screwed in all the way and I had the same issue when I looked closer.

Turning that in let's the assy seat further out which opens the gap.

Re: I see what people mean by a misaligned hatch.....

Yep, my 2014 J GC Overland has the same alignment issue. It looks like the tail light is not correct rather than the hatch. I'll see if I can avoid the dealer and fix it myself.

Re: I see what people mean by a misaligned hatch.....

That is EXACTLY what I was seeing.

Some were worse, with the lenses not flush going across the body to hatch portions.

Re: I see what people mean by a misaligned hatch.....

Maybe I'm missing something in the pictures but it seems this is an extremely minimal cosmetic issue, right? I can see if its actually making contact and you get damage when you open and close the hatch. Is this even worth having the dealer fix? I'd imagine getting an "Are you serious??" response if I asked to have this fixed. Has anyone gotten that response?

In my opinion, no. Took less time to fix it then it would have taken to drive to the end of the street, let alone to the dealer.

I'd be ticked if I got such a response.

Basic fit/finish on a 40-50K vehicle is not "extremely minimal", especially since one doesn't generally see that on 20K Hondas or Subarus.

I'm a firm believer in the adage that easily preventable defects in plain sight suggest a strong potential for issues where one cannot see them--as the numerous posters here dealing with vexing electrical issues, etc appear to confirm.

The mere fact that a panel "isn't rubbing" is irrelevant. This isn't 1947.
