Re: I take delivery tomorrow...V6 owners need your feedback

No issues about the power from V6 out of me, I plan to do some light towing...no hills or anything. I love it !!

I prefer the Hemi, BUT....

I own the Overland and I feel that the tricked out luxury version should have the hemi, AND I do MAINLY hwy driving where the Hemi's MPG is pretty reasonable and the power welcome.
Given your usage there's little point to the hemi, which would essentially only cost you more money in stop & go traffic. You're getting a nice truck, enjoy!

Jeep definitely knew what they were doing when they decided to offer both engines with any configuration except for the SRT its a smart move and plus a lot of people want the luxury of the overland or the summit without a big gas bill. Its great that Jeep did that instead of like lexus restricting a better interior nicer features to one gas hog engine... It doesnt have to have a great big engine to be luxurious kudos to Chrysler for that. CaptRB i'm not knocking your view at all i'm just saying its nice for everyone to have the choice of which engine they want with each model. Now they need to work on getting us the S-limited package interior as an option!!! lol

Now that we have eased you mind about the V6 you can upgrade to 20" wheels very easy. Ebay has lots of OEM 20" stock wheels for sale. The Fotera tires are not that expensive. Good luck

Bullseye - I know what you mean. I took a v6 for a long test drive, putting it through the paces. When I was driving it hard, it felt great - not lacking in power at all - but more casual driving it always seemed to be about 1 gear too high & felt sluggish. I'm waiting for the 14's because I'm pretty sure I want a diesel but depending on the cost difference I may see how much the 8spd helps. I'm guessing its going to help the v6 a lot.

Re: I take delivery tomorrow...V6 owners need your feedback

As long as you stick to a tire between 30" and 31" tall the calibrations will be right.

Being a Floridian I am mainly concerned with traction in rain but in general the shorter the sidewall, the lower the compliance and the rougher the ride. It's your choice.

Love my V6 and it actually has a nice little rumble to it also. Hauls our 4000+ lb travel trailer with ease.

Re: I take delivery tomorrow...V6 owners need your feedback

I tow a 20' camper weighing in at 3200#, and it does well at highway speeds. It does shift down into 3rd sometimes in head wind uphill, but never sweat it and keep going. Since I only tow 25% of my annual millage, I enjoy the gas consumption over the hemi in the city. Maybe the 8 speed will be better, but they may have issues too.
