I take delivery tomorrow...V6 owners need your feedback

Tomorrow I'm taking delivery of my 2013 GC Laredo with X package. I'm really stoked. Only thing it doesnt have is the 20's and a.......hemi. I live in the city of Chicago. I drive about 15 miles a day round trip to and from my office in stop and go traffic. All I find on this site is what seems to be hemi owners saying the V6 is a joke and how its a waste of money to buy a jeep with a v6. My truck has 4x4 and to be honest I want a touch of luxury with options ive never had before, a safe truck for my child and wife, and something that will get me around in the brutal chicago snow. So all you V6 owners....Do you regret NOT getting a hemi? I'll never tow a thing in my life. I just dont see how I would ever need a hemi and I cant believe the thought process of people saying its a waste to get the v6 because the truck underperforms. What is the honest opinion of the V6???

You will love your V6, it has plenty of power for you since you won't be towing. I drive mine up and down hills and it handles great, truth is I really look forward to getting in my WK2 in the morning and driving to work. You're gonna love your Laredo X!

Almost got 400 miles on my last tank. Half city half highway miles. Coming from my 94 wrangler inline 6 and even my 03 mustang gt. I don't feel a slow at all in my pentastar wk2. Sure the 6 is not as cool to floor as the hemi and I won't be racing anyone in my grand Cherokee. There are plenty of us v6 lovers on the forum

Re: I take delivery tomorrow...V6 owners need your feedback

Agree, have had others comment being surprised how fast the Laredo is for something its size. Have also towed with it and no problems.

Just an obsevation but most V6 owners seem happy, it is others who bash. Must admit am biased toward DOHC 6s for street engines but then I have another toy that is much faster & needs all the octane it can get.

I'm used to power and the V6 was a huge step down for me. However, I've had mine 16 months and it doesn't bug me to the point of trading in, like my previous 2 4-bangers did. The V6 is just above sufficient and think you'll enjoy it, and especially the mpg savings.

Re: I take delivery tomorrow...V6 owners need your feedback

I do not regret, especially considering that WK2 with HEMI now often have infamous shudder problem.

I also have Laredo X + towing package, no moonroof. One of the reasons I got it is because I did NOT want quadralift and it did prove to be problematic for a lot of owners.

Also during test drive HEMI just didn't seem all that much faster. My main reason for not getting a HEMI though was that on previous Chrysler cars using HEMI it would often develop a tick (google "hemi tick") and I know this would drive me nuts.

Re: I take delivery tomorrow...V6 owners need your feedback

I had a WK2 limited Hemi since October 2010 until July 2012. Changed it in July for a Laredo X V6 (gas prices in my island). Same exact thing, the only thing I miss is flooring the gas pedal in a green light and feel the Hemi machine shaking from its power lol. But yeah... it's the same.

Re: I take delivery tomorrow...V6 owners need your feedback

Were I not going to tow a small horse trailer, I would have bought the V6. The WK2 that I test drove had the V6 and it was perfectly acceptable to me. (Don't get me wrong, I love my V8 and it's getting better milage than I expected, but it wouldn't in stop-and-go traffic like you'll be dealing with) Enjoy your new Jeep!

Another Pentastar V6 fan here. I don't feel the need for more power and it is a sweet sounding engine too.

Re: I take delivery tomorrow...V6 owners need your feedback

The V6 is fine. The transmission programming could be better and let the engine do its thing. Thats my only beef with the V6 powertrain. You need to stab the gas pedal sometimes to get it to downshift and accelerate like it should. When you stomp on the loud pedal the V6 moves the heavy Jeep pretty well.
