I'd say you're correct Bill. Another thing is I looked for several minutes for the heated seat buttons. Then it dawned on me. Lol

Oh you might be the first but surely won't be the last to do that...

I know your experience is limited so far, but does 1st gear seem significantly more "lively" than the old 5 speed?

Also...any chance you know someone with '13 weathertech mats you could try in the '14? Would love to bring mats with me to the dealership!

Thanks for all the pictures and videos...giving us folks something to look forward to!

Re: I think I might go pick up a 2014 Overland tonight...

I know this subject was from a couple pages ago, but I would be VERY surprised (and disappointed) if the rear brake and turn signals were standard incandescant bulbs. Im not sure if you verified this or not, but how on earth would they add fancy LED headlights with LED turn signals in the front, but then leave the rears with incandescant bulbs?? Or better yet, how is it that the cheapest base model Chrysler vehicles you can buy (200, Dart, Compass etc etc), all have full LED rear brake and signaling, but the Grand Cherokee does not? Hopefully this is not the case, but if you can have someone step on your brakes or turn your hazards on for us and check that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
James

promo video has shown incandescent bulbs in the rear lights. Personally I like those over the Christmas light style tails anyway.

agreed. I've been fine with the black trim. Looks tougher for an off-roadish vehicle to me.

I feel like the lighter exterior colors look better with the contrast in trim on the Limited ... Meanwhile it seems the darker exterior colors look better in the Overland with the body color trim.

That's just my general opinion. I feel like the darker exteriors hide the "smile" better as well.

I was going for a red Overland until I saw the body colored trim. I switched to Maximum Steel.

First gear is pretty impressive. Night and day vs the old 5 speed. The truck actually feels quick off the line. 5.7 and 6.4 guys are going to have it so good if the improvement carries over. Sorry didn't check the mats.

I think the 8 speed will make a much bigger difference with the V6 than the V8s as it has a narrower HP and Torque band. Is the acceleration off the line and the 30-70 (ie when merging onto a highway) noticeably different with the 8 speed?

Didn't play with anything when cruising on the interstate. I used the paddle shift from a dead stop and was pleasantly surprised.

FYI: according to the manual you should apparently wait until after the engine break-in period to do full throttle acceleration from a low gear.
