Re: Ice Damage - Ouch

I don't know what to believe but I've seen these fender flares come loose and fall off for no reason at all... all he needed was a small section to not be sealed properly and a chunk of packed snow sliding off the hood or roof to catch it and get jammed in there. It's not as far fetched as it sounds and if you were around this past week when we had the storm you wouldn't think it's impossible either.

A lot more believable than driving into a snow bank like some suggested...

He ran out of videos to post on you tube?
His neighbor was gonna use the snow to clean his mouth out but decided better of it and tried to hide it in his fender flare?
You had 3" of compressed snow on the entire car even the sides?
Why would anyone(original OP) be following him on youtube?
Why would he make a 1 hour long video of this?
Being a Jeep He decided to drive over an iceberg?
How does he think a fender Flare should be attached?

but water expansion did not do that.

Re: Ice Damage - Ouch

Without the video I wouldn't be so skeptical.

I doubt that it had anything to do with water expanding. I could see the snow coming off a snow plow doing it if it was a little loose to start with. In deep snow the snow curls in front of the plow and could hit it coming from the top. That would be the same as a plow hitting it as far a warranty is concerned, not covered.

Re: Ice Damage - Ouch

I'm leaning towards the fender flares being a little loose and him just jamming a piece of ice in there to have some drama for a youtube video. Way more plausible than water doing that all on its own. There's no chance that the fender flare can even hold that much water and especially not in that small spot. Any water that gets in there drains out. Even if it somehow didn't drain, the tape probably has enough give for the 9% expansion when water is frozen. Very clearly that chunk of ice was put in there with some force, and I'm leaning towards him providing said force.

Someone missed a day in high school chemistry.

I wonder if the wheel well was some how full of packed snow and some how it pushed through from the inside. I've had a lot of snow build up in the wheel wells when conditions are right. He could have been 4 wheeling in snow had quadra lift up with packed snow and then lowered it.

I agree that it seems odd there are no scratches on the outside and that is not ice expansion.

SRT no quadra lift.

Still could happen without quadra lift.

I've packed my wheel wells so tight I could not fully steer.
Now go over a nice big bump like a speed bump!

Splat.

EDIT: I just checked my Summit and the wheel lining covers the inside of the flares.
So that would be tough to come from inside. But still feasible if his lining is torn, modified or different on SRT. Which it might be for wider wheels and lower stance.

In one of his latest videos, you can see the "aftermath" if you will. The actual fender itself looks slightly dented. Or it might just be that trim piece being off the fender. Not sure but here take a look:

The youtube link starts at the point where you need to see, to spare you all of his BS

looks like it got bashed in there from a snow bank as others have said.
Body is definitely dented

I'm kinda busy judging him from sticking cheap walmart floor covers in an SRT.

I used to be on that road every day when I was working. Now that I'm retired I only hit it twice a year ... and that's next month for my Easter visit. Now I'm thinking of staying home.

Driver judgement/error... reversing through a plowed snow bank (likely wet) with the wheels cut. plain and simple... pushed the fender in, popped the fender trim and packed it full of wet snow, or a chunk of previously frozen snow... left it that way while he dreamed up a story to have someone else pay for his misfortune... later in the day or overnight the snow froze.

I finally got to watch this U-toob video. I couldn't stop laughing at this guy, the things he said and the unrealistic expectations he had. F'in incredible.

There's no way this happened "naturally" or is any way attributable to the design or attachment of the fender flare.
