That's up market.

I never really considered the LR4. I was put off by the price, reputation for reliability, and dealer availability. I didn't care for the size of it either (it, too, seems big -- heck, I consider my GC wide). It looks tall, boxy, and tippy to me (whether it actually is or not).

In the end, pretty confident my GC will take me anywhere I'm willing to take it, so I doubt however much better the LR 4WD system is, I likely wouldn't be pressing it the edge where I would benefit.

The '02 TrailBlazer, released in early '01, had a dangerous situation with the suspension. In addition to letters, tv ads and news reports, there were announcements on almost every radio station, multiple times a day, saying if you are driving this vehicle, park it where you are and call a toll free number. They picked up the vehicles from where ever they were parked.

I ordered my TrailBlazer that day and was at the dealership when they got the notice.

I agree that Jeep is pretty weak on the customer support end. Not sure if it the same across all of Chrysler. Every other, over a dozen, new car I bought had loaner car provisions as part of the warranty. Maybe there aren't enough cars in the US rental fleet to handle all the Jeeps in for warranty work.

Stick around, it appears there is rumor in Jeep of doing a resurrection of the old AMC Eagle. Allegedly to compete with Subaru Outback.

Re: If Ford ever did this, Jeep would be forced to up their QC

As many as they are building in a vain effort to meet demand, it is inevitable there are going to be more than a few "Friday vehicles" in the lot.

Unfortunately, that could become something that helps kill the demand if not curbed a bit better.

Although I'm somewhat tolerant of "its a Jeep thing" foibles, I'm afraid I would be postal if a brand new 50K vehicle gave me as much grief as some of the ones I've seen here.

Re: If Ford ever did this, Jeep would be forced to up their QC

Demand will remain high in spite of the numerous glitches. Although Jeep Garage, and other forums, provide a lot of information, I don't believe the majority of potential buyers research more than the price, and maybe the MPG. How many new, one time posters, show up here to ask "does anyone else have this problem" when they are referring to an issue that already has a dozen threads and maybe even a TSB already issued.
