I don't really think its all that different from the v6 (from what I've read)

once you come to terms with the fact that you will never get decent mileage with the Hemi, (although I consider highway mileage somewhat decent for the engine) you will have a smile every time you enter that onramp and give her all she's got.
Great write up.

Re: If money was no object...

Hemi! Having an underpowered vehicle as nice as the GC is a sin, much worse then adding a little pollution. Note that the Hemi shuts down four cylinders while cruising (up to 80 MPH) so you will get over 20 MPG. Of course when you stomp on it to hear the V-8 roar the MPG is not good, but you will love the sound and power.

I was going 65 mph on the highway in my 2012 WK2 Hemi at 1700 rpm and getting 26.4 mpg.

If money was no object I wouldn't care to pay whatever for gas so I'd be going with a V8

If money was no object I'd be driving the fastest 2012 range rover in existence. But I'd also have a 12 srt8 jeep. Man that thing is badass.

Overpriced but really bad ass, I don't regret purchasing my Jeep after looking at the price tag on the SRT8's

Re: If money was no object...

I test drove both a V6 and V8 on Monday (both 4X4). I was shocked about how sluggish the V6 felt to me. I asked the sales guy if it started in second gear. He said no, and just to make sure, I put it in "manual mode" and checked that the gear indicator showed 1. The V6 lacks low end torque, and the JGC 4X4 weighs over 5000 LBS, but the biggest culprit is the 5 speed transmission. The first gear is way too long, and it does not get the JGC off the line quickly. My wife drives a 2012 Cayenne V6, and with the 8 speed automatic, it feels as quick as the JGC Limited 4X4 V8 that I drove on Monday.

Off topic: I was very impressed with how solid the JGC felt, the body, doors etc. The interior is really nice, and the V8 has a nice rumble when accelerating. I will be placing an order for a Limited 4X4 with the V8.

Re: If money was no object...

All I can tell you is throttle response improves tremendously as the engine breaks in. I'm at 2400 miles now and its much snappier now.

Australia uses the Research Octane Number. The U.S. uses the average of the RON and the Motor Octane Number. Details are at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane_rating.

Re: If money was no object...

I'm very happy with my 3.6, great gas mileage (saving $250 per month on fuel over my old WJ), goes over 500 miles on one tank and resale will be better than the hemi.
