Porsche Cayman or the upcoming BMW M2.
Sadly, this cars are not practical where I live.

F150 4wd crew cab with leather and the tow package. I like my Jeep, but the F150 can pull more trailer or a fifth wheel. Wouldn't hurt to have one of each - a JGC & a F150.

You must mean $5.00 per gallon since in many places in the US, its been over $4.00 for months now.

After spending a weekend in a new 2014 WK2 ECD, I actually miss my 2008 WK CRD.

A truck, maybe a sierra 1500 denali or a f150 king ranch! I hope I wouldn't feel sorry for it everytime I go out to ski or mtb like I do for my summit!

Porsche Macan or Range Rover Sport would be my choices. However, they are much more expensive and the Jeep is enough for me (although I think I would enjoy an Overland more than my Limited)

Out of curiousity, why the Macan and not the Cayenne? The Macan seems really small by comparison. More like an Evoque than an RRS or a GC.

Re: If you were to give up your GC today, what would you get?

Actually, have been continuing to investigate this as additional nonsense continues to pop up (squeak in the suspension, rattle for passenger headrest, etc.). Jeep service continues to suck.

Did some research and now am looking at the Mercedes M Class. The Jeep is a version of it, right? My theory is that maybe the Mercedes version of the JGC is exactly what I need. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

FYI - I gave up on the Porsche for several reasons, but the main ones are price of service, lack of extended warranty and the fact that what I could afford (the Macan) is just too small. A well optioned Cayenne S or GTS is just too expensive. Plus, I can get the M Class with a 4-Lo setting and other offroad goodies.

When I got my 2014 Lexus GX460 it was between that and the Summit. The Jeep salesman never called me back! I went in person to both dealerships for test drives too. I wasn't going to beg the Jeep guy to sell me a car. Truth be told I was leaning Summit. Oh well, my parents are in the market for a Summit so I'll get to drive theirs from time to time. Ha.

The GC suspension is allegedly from the M class, yes.
The M class is a nice vehicle, but so is the Cayenne, Touareg, LR4, and if you want The Ultimate D***head Machine, the X5, although some of those have been emasculated as far as low range, etc. goes.

An M Class with off road capabilities is quite nice.
I would expect a bit more expensive unless perhaps you get the smaller engine.
