Took my JGC into the dealership to deal with a front brake squeal at low speeds when starting out on a cold morning.
I found a TSB that describes the problem perfectly: http://wk2jeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk2_0500215.pdf
I printed it and took it with me to the dealer. Since there are several TSBs about squealing front brakes in the last few years, I thought it would help to have them looking at the correct one from the start.
When I handed it to the service writer, she came unglued and said it was illegal for me to have that. I told her that it's not illegal to be in possession of a technical service bulletin. She backpedaled and said it was illegal to distribute since it was copyrighted. She eyeballed it from a distance and acted like she didn't even want to touch it, let alone add it to the information handed to a tech.
Of course, being fed a line of bull like that does not give me confidence that they're going to be trustworthy with other things.
Has anyone else been told this by their dealer?
My wife likened it to me knowing the color of a stranger's underwear. Not illegal, but embarrassing to them when I tell them I know.
