Incentives Changed

First a little background. -
I've been lurking the forum for a while while shopping for my wife's new ride- was pretty much sold on Rugged Brown Summit w/ tow package. Both V6 & V8 are within a couple hours of me. With the 1000 cash back inventive I was looking to beat a published price of 40829 for v6 with sticker of 45,015 (I think). The V8 sticker is 46,810 and on the way into the local dealership. He mentioned a price around 41,800 but havent hashed it out yet.

Checked price on the V6 this morning, it is now 41,829 and Jeep site no longer shows the 1000 cash back or special financing rates. I thought if anything changed with the incentives that they would be better, now that 13's are in production. Should I wait for better price on 12? Dont really want to wait another 6 months or so (guessing) for 13 summit. How often do these incentives change?

Re: Incentives Changed

Am surprised they stayed this long but with the GC behind the Wrangler in sales now they may be back. Still with total CJF sales up again in June (GC 50% higher than June 2011), are they needed ?

I'm surprised the incentives were around that long as well.

Jeep has a hit with the new GC, and they know it. With falling gas prices right now, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't really throw much incentives out there for the next few months. With '13 being a short year as well, I doubt they really do any incentives to it either.

Incentives change every month, but honestly if you want the car, $1000 is a drop in the bucket on the whole purchase. There's value in instant gratification as well.

I too was going to wait for the incentives to go up, but they never did. That is why I ordered mine in May and took delivery in early June. no regrets.

Re: Incentives Changed

In a January interview regarding car prices in 2012: "Marchionne says he's been stingy on discounts at Chrysler. And he doesn't see a return to the big rebates and discounts of the early 2000s, when Detroit automakers were forced by union labor contracts to offer rebates to move metal and keep their factories humming. " Of course, competition plays into the decision as well. If your competitors are offering big rebates, others follow.

Based on his statement and the great sales of JGCs i was surprised to see the incentives lasting as long as they did.

Re: Incentives Changed

You lucked out. I just went on jeep.com and the $1,000 rebate was up on the website. Sometimes it takes a few days to get them posted.

Re: Incentives Changed

BMW X5 is offering $4,500 cash back. I saw the commercial recently. Sure, they start out higher but that's a significant incentive. I like that Jeep is keeping the incentives small though so to keep re-sale higher that way.

An X5 xDrive50i equipped similarly (admittedly, some extra features you don't get in the Jeep come bundled with the packages) to my Overland is about $76k. $4500 doesn't really make up for the fact it's hugely more expensive. Couple the fact that the X5 is a significantly older model, and is facing HUGE pressure from the fantastic new ML, and has the new GC stealing away a lot of customers, I wouldn't be surprised to see more than $4500 thrown at the ol' X5 in the near future. Oh, and the new X3 is great too, and not that much smaller than the X5 anymore, so that can't be helping matters.

Re: Incentives Changed

I priced an X5 with full leather, and not much more but decent for $52k MSRP when I was SUV shopping.

Sounds like there basic 6 cylinder model which isn't comparable to your V8 WK2.

The "basic" six cylinder engine in the X5 is turbocharged and paired to an eight speed automatic. It is slightly quicker than a V8 JGC.

I think what he was getting at is a base X5 doesn't come with hardly any luxury features at all. HIDs? Nope. Cooled seats? Nope. Nav? Heck no. Nice stereo? No way. Moonroof? Nope. Power liftgate? Nope. Real leather? Negative.

Honestly, an X5 that is decently equipped is $68k MSRP. Anyone spending less than that is either buying for the brand name, or is willing to live without features I'm not

I don't quite get people always coming back to the Jeep not being super fast. Of course it's not, it's not meant to be. If performance is what people are looking for in, then really they should be looking at Cayenne Turbos, AMG models, the SRT8, X5Ms, etc.
