Independence Day II - WK2 makes an appearance

So in the online trailer for the forthcoming Independence Day II flick the Jeep WK2 makes an appearance in the first opening moments. Actually 6 of them do, fully kitted out with brush guards, roof racks and a plethora of exterior lighting. They are flanked for and aft by 2 United Nations Humvees. What I found interesting about the WK2's(and when viewed on a 27" Thunderbolt display with the images magnified) was that all of the Jeeps had the Trailhawk graphic on the hood, and if viewed closely enough, TrailHawk badges on the rear lift gate. And they are '14-'16 models. Take a peek and see for yourself.

Jeeps can be viewed from 0:05 to about 0:17.

Let the arguments began........and go

Re: Independence Day II - WK2 makes an appearance

The writer's are just trying to up the cool factor by slapping all that on the Jeeps.

I know !!! The Batman vs Spiderman movie looks epic :P

I personally can't wait for Independence Day, Captain America: Civil War, X-Men Apocalypse, Suicide Squad, and Batman vs Superman.

I enjoyed Independence Day as well as Battleship and a few movies like that despite the genre not being a favorite. I am glad that Jeep (as a brand) is featured in movies.

Surely they look impressive on the screen but as it is often the case with movies, they do not reflect real world circumstances. In every single cruise I organized or participated, when running a tightly-spaced convoy, all trailing cars ran less lighting to avoid blinding the leading car. It is different now in the era of electro-chromatic mirrors but still. Also the U.N. peacekeepers use Toyotas, the U.N. run Toyota, not Jeeps or Humvees, though I suspect some variety is introduced by whatever country is supplying the manpower.

Another thing I found interesting is the WK2's in the trailer seem to have some extended wheel flares. They almost look like those on the Trailhawk II concept, except the ones on the TH II were built around a widened wheel well, these don't look like they have an expanded wheel well nor do these look to be sporting the 35" tires that the concept did. The stance is definitely not the same as can be seen in the comparison pic, but either way, perhaps this hints at a surprise debut of a new trailhawk for the 2016 model? We shall see, but I would just be excited to get some OEM widened wheel flares so I can run wheel spacers and up my tire size to 33ish... without having to use those ugly (bolt showing) bushwackers.

Re: Independence Day II - WK2 makes an appearance

This definitely makes you wonder what they have in store for us... Trailhawks were pretty cool on the 12-13 now even just as cool on the 14-16 shown in the trailer.

Re: Independence Day II - WK2 makes an appearance

I wonder how many $ that cost FCA? Let's hope the sequel is as good as the original. I wonder if the aliens are still using Apples so we can infect their system and defeat them again?

No, aliens switched to Dell Alienware tablets. If their are based on the Dell Venue 11 Pro Craplets, the aliens have no chance after either the first Windows 10 update or the first Dell firmware update.
