Interior Materials Complaint - Gloss Steering wheel w/ satin trim? WTF?

I just want to ask for ideas for possibly swapping steering wheels or somehow getting a steering wheel that matches the interior better. I have a loaded Overland with the Vesuvio blue/brown interior, and its pretty nice for the most part, but what interior designer missed the difference between the steering wheel and dash/panel trim differences? Granted I'm not a fan of the wood on the wheel in the first place but does anyone have any ideas on how to somehow get the finish looking similar to the rest of the wood trim?

I've looked at just replacing it with a Laredo black wheel but now I'm having to swap airbags too, and trim, etc... granted its a Jeep and not an Audi/BMW/Merc (and I like that its not more expensive) but come-on... all the trouble to do these nice contrasting interiors like the Germans offer and then not catch a glaring error on something I touch every single time I'm in the car lol. Any ideas appreciated. I am a little pink princess I know. =)

TIA.

Duct tape comes in a multitude of colors.
You can probably get a German brand too!

My guess is that they found open-pore wood didn't hold up well under constant touching of people's oily hands?

I'm going to get one of those fuzzy bathmat looking covers from PepBoys for it.

I'm going to check into swapping it for the SRT wheel and shifter cap out of curiosity. I'm not sure if the blue airbag would look ok on it or not but at least would keep another ~$500 or so out of the equation.

Re: Interior Materials Complaint - Gloss Steering wheel w/ satin trim? WTF?

I suppose you could paint it (sand, prime and paint two coats).

Or you could sand it, then try to give it an open pore wood look however they do it.

Or you could find a place that could wrap it in leather to match the other leather.

Or a wrap of some kind...

I've got a Summit and the fact that the steering wheel is glossy is a given as it is touched and handled constantly where open pore wood wouldn't make sense.

I have to admit, when I first heard about open pore wood I didn't know if I would like it...but I do like it.

Re: Interior Materials Complaint - Gloss Steering wheel w/ satin trim? WTF?

I made the same comment when the 2014 came out.

I have one now same interior as you and it doesn't look odd or bother me like it did when they first came out. My advice would be to give it some time and see if you adjust to it. Nobody who has gotten in our Jeep has made comment or mention about it.

Yes, but perhaps they were thinking..."love his new Jeep but what's with that glossy wood on the steering wheel?"

Re: Interior Materials Complaint - Gloss Steering wheel w/ satin trim? WTF?

Help is available for glossy wood steering wheel not matching open-pore wood trim obsession:

"Cognitive/Behavioral Therapy is the best form of treatment for OCD.

Cognitive/Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is considered to be the best form of treatment for OCD. OCD is believed to be a genetically-based problem with behavioral components, and not psychological in origin. Ordinary talk therapy will, therefore, not be of much help. Reviewing past events in your life, or trying to figure out where your parents went wrong in raising you have never been shown to relieve the symptoms of OCD. Other forms of behavioral treatment, such as relaxation training or thought-stopping (snapping a rubber band against your wrist and saying the word "Stop" to yourself when you get an obsessive thought) are likewise unhelpful. The type of behavioral therapy shown to be most effective for OCD is known as Exposure and Response Prevention (E&RP)."
