Interior Wood Trim Coming Off

Not sure how/why this happened, but it was fine last night. Got in this morning and found my wood trim coming off!

Any idea how to fix it or should I take it to the dealer?

Re: Interior Wood Trim Coming Off

If it's under warranty take it to your dealer. If not, I'd try some good adhesive.

Yep. No warranty. Any idea on adhesive? I don't want to ruin it.

Re: Interior Wood Trim Coming Off

Not sure, but I've had good luck with old fashioned super glue. You might want to stop by a reputable body shop and ask. Maybe an auto trim adhesive is available at an auto parts store. It's Sunday, so post views are kinda slow here. Give it a day or two and I'm sure you'll get more ideas from this thread. We have some very knowledgeable members here.

Re: Interior Wood Trim Coming Off

Do you live in an extreme climate? (Either hot or cold)...

I don't think I have ever seen anything like this before.

I'd use good ol glue, but be careful and don't use too much as it could get messy.

Re: Interior Wood Trim Coming Off

I've had good luck with the 3m adhesives, and what I've linked is specifically used for automotive trim.

Worse case, you could always replace the trim piece, oem trim pieces have never been that expensive on mopars. The dealer might work with you since it is a pretty glaring defect.

Re: Interior Wood Trim Coming Off

I dunno if you want to go through the trouble, but maybe contact Chrysler. Depending on how far out of warranty you are, they might cover it anyway.

If that didn't work then I'd take the entire piece off, strip off all old adhesive then apply new adhesive. Beware though, don't use anything thicker than what was on there already.

Re: Interior Wood Trim Coming Off

I assume the underside of the polished wood is wood with maybe an adhesive film that covers is (not bear wood).....what is the part that is still attached made of? Even if not within warranty, your dealer may have a suggestion too.

Re: Interior Wood Trim Coming Off

That is just not right.

1. Take it to your dealer, let them work some magic to keep you coming back
2. Call Chrysler. What could it hurt?
3. Go to body works shop / detailer
4. Screw it, get out the Crazy Glue and get to work! (Remove original and clean if possible)

Right. Let them know that while this problem is minor, it's a really glaring defect that you feel happened prematurely...

At least that is how I feel right now.

Agreed.. I looked at mine and the corners look slightly elevated but I'm not concerned right now. Good to report it just like those SRT owners had their carbon fiber ones falling off completely!
