Re: Is it Normal to be told to wait a month to check a check engine light?

Ok update: so I called back tues dec1st after calling tues November 24th and leaving a long detailed message with the service manager.. I spoke to the same secretary jasmine and I guess she remembered my voice as well as my issue.. This time she went out her to try to do something for me Bc she felt sympathetic to the issues and put me in contact with there customer rep krysten..

Jasmine left her my number and assured me she would have her call me back and she would call me back at the end of the day to follow up ( as she did) 👍🏽👍🏽

Krysten called me and went out her way to find me a earlier spot Bc as of now my date was for 12/29/15.. She searched and found me a spot 9am the next day.. Though I work in the night I was able to get home sleep for 2 hrs and then go to the dealership and make the time.. I was thankful to not have to wait a month and have issues in my car checked Bc of her initiative..

Now my experience there I will explain in my next post.. Now what I have to say about shouldn't negate krysten and jasmine in Hudson auto but how these "professionals"handle these cars and "fix it" is not much different from the average joe in a regular mechanic shop.. Accept if you were paying out of pocket it'll be twice as much.. I'll explain my day in the next post and why I'm pissed with this company..

Is it Normal to be told to wait a month to check a check engine light?

Problems I needed addressed, how they addressed them and were they addressed:
Also please if anyone has experienced these problems please let me know if your still experiencing it or if the manage to fix the problem..

#1. Bluetooth issues:

car has a delay issue from media to car system being played.. I say about a 1/2 second delay which isn't an issue of I'm just listening to music but if I'm parked up watching a YouTube video the audio is not synced with the video..
Also has a problem switching over from music to video to the point that I have to switch to my SD media and back to sort of "reboot" and start all over..
Sometimes it doesn't even recognize my music but I know it's connected bc I'm getting my calls so I have to disconnect and reconnect my phone which sometimes goes easy but other time requires me to turn off my car and restart it bc it's just not getting it right..

How they "fixed it" : they flashed my radio
Result: it's still doing it smh

#2. Check engine light

Seems to be a repetitive problem with my with a leak in my evap engine code: P065.
This is the third time I had this code and all times it was just flashed and rebooted.. Now granted it wouldn't come on for about 3000 miles but usually right after an oil change it does.. The last time i had it I tried to make a appt and they gave me a month.. within that month it shut off within 300 miles and then drove for 1600 roughly before cutting on and staying on for about 600 miles..

How they "fixed it": they flashed it AGAIN
result: Still to early to tell but as of a week no check engine light. If it happens again I'm going to urge them to find a fix and no longer allow them to do a temporary fix as they have been doing..

#3. UConnect issues:

Car was unable to auto start via my phone app as well as my car keypad.. Which I guess goes hand and hand with the check engine light.. What I find odd was that every time I caught a flat or my check engine light went off I would get a email almost instantly notifying me of a problem which I didn't..

How they "fixed it" : well the flash on of the check engine light did remedy the auto start what is yet to be seen if the UConnect system diagnostic email has been fixed as well.. Time will tell..

#4. Odor inside car when air is on:

Ok this really doesn't need explanation as I'm sure we would all know that the cabin air filter needs to be changed.. What pisses me off is that when I purchased this car I purchased a multitude of warranties.. Lifetime warranty, tire warranty, dent and ding warranty, interior warranty and maintenance warranty..

Now the maintenance warranty i bought bc this salesman told me everything was included and everything included was: all fluids ( radiator, brake, motor, trans, differential, transfer case and window washing fluid.) all filters ( oil, air filter, cabin filter and fuel filter) brakes! The salesman told me pads and rotors would be included!

So it's time to change my cabin filter and behold! It's not covered.. Smh so I'm pissed bc Liza is telling me it only covers oil.. Now she didn't bother looking bc " she knows" so I'm pissed that I paid for this expensive maintenance warranty only bc all of the above was included bc who in there right mind pays so much for just oil changes? So now I got to source my agreement and really get into the details of what it covers and make this a stink if in fact in only covers oil.. I bought both air and cabin filters myself to replace which to be honest isn't an issue bc it's simple but I honestly was expecting them to do this.. Oh by the way a cabin filter cost about $22.00-$27.00 to purchase and very easy to do.. Dealerships wants a $100.00 to do it for you.. Smh I'll do both my air and cabin filter for $45.00 on my own thank you very much..

#5. Light shaking of my steering wheel upwards of 45mph through 80mph increased vibration:

Ok we know it's has to be some sort of wheel balance or alignment issue. So I'm gonna tell exactly what they did:

9am I give the guy the keys who initially takes your car. He goes insides and I guess takes some sort of orders from Liza who is the assistant service manager.. Who comes back to my car and straps these things on my cars wheels to check the alignment so I'm peeping him do this and I notice him putting it on and it's not fully secured on to wheel and it's slightly off. (Maybe it doesn't have to I'm guessing but I'm gonna find out and peep how the guy does it when I bring it back for the samething the next time) he moves my car not even a 1/4 rotation and stops and exits my car with a result.. Now I tell this kid look when you step in and out of someone's car be mindful of your feet.. ( kid hops in and out kicking and scuffing my door panels)

Liza tells me the camber is off alignment and shows me the sheet where each tire is off -2* and one is -1* and also says it's probably why it's shaking and also the poor alignment is going to put more ware on the tires... So I ask how much $$$ and she tells me $95.00 and I say ok do it...

Fast forward to :1:30pm I get my car back and they let me know all that I mentioned and... They took the car for a ride and could not find the vibration..

Drive home vibration still exist and it's exactly the same with the " alignment" done..

I'm going to make another appt so they can do the alignment check again and watch how they place it..
Depending how they mount it and the result will explain a lot if they are fraudulent with this alignment test and I'm also going to ask them to balance my tires ( I swear it better be under my tire warranty)

I'm gonna source my maintenance warranty and see what is exactly covered.. And someone is going to be getting hell regarding that either way..

So with all said this is my question to you.

When they send me the email " how was my experience at Hudson Chrysler?" What would you say?
Does krysten from customer service who got me the next day appt deserve the mediocre rating the dealership deserves that I want to give them? I would like to give some sort of acknowledgement for actually doing her job and really putting in some effort for customer priority but the dealerships work I don't ..

What to do what to do... Please your thoughts

Ps I haven't forgotten about the update on the blue driver obdII iPhone compatible checker just between my reef tank my car issues and Christmas I've been tied up so my apologies..

Why not a letter to the dealership owner that details your issues and concerns while also providing praise for the two people who actually tried to help you. And copy Jeep corporate...

You know what that's not a bad idea.. ( thanks Jim) It's addressing a few issues that I have and complimenting the ones that showed initiative to helping a customer out.. What about the alignment fiasco? Anyone experience any of the issues I have and if so how was it handled?

Now I'm 4 appointments in on trying to get a loud suspension clunk noise resolved on my 15 GC. It's pretty much hopeless. It's a shame but the lousy service is ruining owning our two jeeps for me. I'm at the point of saying never again.

That is so disappointing to hear that this company lacks in service so badly.. Can turn off a lot of jeep owners down the line.. I know it's turning me off for sure...

Tony, concerning number 4. above you can also use the OEM charcoal filter for the diesel they use it to keep the diesel smell down, same size filter and may help the smell issue you have, I use it in mine, 68260792AA - Charcoal Cabin Filter.

For number 5 the wheel balance issue, make sure they road force balance the tires not just a standard spin balance. The road force balancing is more precise and does make a difference. I gave up on those OEM fortera tires at 10k miles and just ate the cost of new Michelins, problem solved. But try the road force balance first. Good Luck!

You know you are absolutely right! It completely slipped my mind.. I remember reading a post about that a while back when I first bought my car... Thank you for giving me the sku I will make it businesses order that from here on in.. I'm actually going to return the one I just bought... Thanks...

As far as the tires go.. They have 17k on them and I plan on burning these out before I get a new set and change brands in the future... I do plan on getting 2 sets of tire and rims I'm just gonna burn these out before.. Hopefully by spring I can start with the rims and tires for the summer and then swap these forterras for some nice winter tires.. Is that road force balance something I can ask the dealership to do or do I have to go to a alignment shop? Thanks for everything

Some dealers have them and some dont, they are expensive. Asked your dealer if he has a Hunter 9700 road force balancer, if not find one that does. My guess is yours probably does considering your location. Road force balancing takes longer and cost more. You need to specify it specificly if you just say balance they will likely just do a standard spin balance. I had them road force balance mine few months ago and it was $90. It does make a difference on these larger rims, they need to have pretty low road force numbers of you will likely feel it, preferably numbers below 12, sometimes hard for them to get all of them that low but that's a good goal. Some places will tell you less than 20 is fine but really need them lower with these GCs as sensitive as setup seems to be.

Definitely will do that and my hopes is this is covered under my tire warranty Bc if it's not I guess it's something I'm gonna have to deal with till I change my tires.. Also silver max where do you buy your cabin filters @? Tried to source it in Amazon and haven't found it.. Yet

It was either ebay, amazon or moparamerica i bounce between those a lot for parts. One thing i found too is those cabin filters get dirty fast, i have been doing them at 10k instead of the recomended 20k.

Try the Fram charcoal filter.
FRAM CF11183 Fresh Breeze Cabin Air Filter available from Amazon, etc.
I use it in a '14 Overland 5.7, perfect drop in.
And yeah, they do seem to need replacing at least once a year.
