Re: Is MaxCare Lifetime a good care?

The dealership offered the MaxCare Lifetime plan to me for $3,100. I showed them the online quote that I received back on 12/01/11 and they matched it. It was $1,830. My position was that if the dealership would not match or beat that online price, then I would purchase it online. As it was the same plan, it did not matter to me from which source I purchased the plan from.

We picked our Overland up today, same thing except we were quoted $3230 or something like that. I didn't even bother. Though I was surprised that the finance guy was pushing it and not my sales rep.

I'll probably buy within 12 months assuming my wife doesn't get sick of the car. Though, if she does, maybe I'll just take it anyway

Re: Is MaxCare Lifetime a good care?

Given all the mechanical, electical, and electronics on a fully loaded Grand Cherokee the $1900 package is worth it for people like me who keep their Jeep 15+ years.

I fully agree. To me it is worth it if you plan to keep the car for a long time. Also, with only a $100 deductible, you are also protected from future labor/parts price increases as well.

Believe it or not, yes everything's covered, minus the common sense "maintenance" items (fluids, tires, brakes, belts, hoses, tune-up items, etc., etc,). The only "catch" if you want to call it that, is this. Say 15 years from now you own the vehicle and the "Blue Book Value" is $2500.00. Now your transmission goes and the cost to repair/replace is $3,000.00. The Maxcare Plan at this point will only pay out a maximum of the book value ($2,500.00 in this case), and then the plan terminates.

Keeping in mind all the electronics on these vehicles, and the meriad of items that can fail, it made sense to me to spend the $1,850.00 I paid for the plan, knowing full well that I plan on keeping the car for many, many years. I have no doubt that for me, this plan will pay for itself several times over!
I believe if I am not mistaken there is a term limit on max care.Either one can buy for a period of total 7 years(3 + 4). or 100,000 miles or 7 years /85000 miles which ever comes first. Please check that out.

Re: Is MaxCare Lifetime a good care?

LIFETIME Maxcare is just that......FOR AS LONG AS YOU OWN THE VEHICLE!! I checked this a dozen times with a dozen different people before I purchased it. It is NOT transferrable, and it won't cover any repair that exceeds the book value of the car. Those are the ONLY stipulations!!

It's my understanding the warranty is transferable in NC (where I live) an FL.

The lifetime warranty on the site listed says it is only valid on vehicles with a lifetime power train warranty. My 2012 only has a 5/100,000 power train warranty. How did you buy a lifetime warranty?

I want one as i keep cars for ten or more years!
