I want one as i keep cars for ten or more years!
When you go the website http://www.chryslerfactoryplans.com and select the car being covered, you will be directed to the Quote Process Screen. Enter the info for your car and make sure that you select the 5/100 Powertrain Warranty option. By doing so, it will provide you with the lifetime option in the coverage details section.

When you get the quote, you can also use it to negotiate with the dealer. In most cases, the dealer will match the price or I have seen in some cases, will even provide you with a slightly lower rate.

Hope this helps.

On average people buying new every 4 years so 15 years, wow!
I never ever bothered with additional insurance, it's a good additional
revenue stream for the dealer but for the buyer?

Re: Is MaxCare Lifetime a good care?

I still own my '98 Grand Cherokee Llimited (original owner) with 202,000 miles currently on the clock. I bought an extended warranty when I purchased her back in '98 and probably made over 7K on the deal!! Went for the maxcare lifetime on my 2011 Overland and am sure I'll do equally as well.....if not BETTER! People like me are out there!

Unbelievable! :-)
I have way too much fun trying different vehicles.
My last 15 years...BMW, Dodge, Mercedes, Nissan, VW, Jeep.
2009 VW Passat 95.000Km, Check engine light...stupid sensor in manifold, needs new manifold, $700!, wish I had insurance...

Re: Is MaxCare Lifetime a good care?

I too enjoy driving different cars, custom projects, motorcycles, etc., etc., but I always like to have one or two in my stable that are my "daily's" that I know will be there with me through thick and thin that I can count on. For those, the extended warranty is a no-brainer.

That was not the case for me. I "saved up" multiple repairs and had them done at one service visit. One $50 deductible applied.

I agree with KevInSoCal. Read the CURRENT contract terms, not the ones we had several years ago. For instance, I have a lifetime limited powertrain warranty. That is not available today. The Jeep site also has a link for this MaxCare coverage and the dealer has a specific brochure you can read.

In my case, it was definitely worth it.

Re: Is MaxCare Lifetime a good care?

If everyone that buys these lifetime plans do better than what they pay, how is the warrantee company still in business?

They're in business because a huge amount of people, trade or sell the vehicle before they ever intended to, not extracting a dime of service from the plan. I would imagine this happens more than enough to pay for the rest of us who keep a vehicle 15 years and pull out 3 times what we paid.

ETA - Also keep in mind the demographic here. You are reading a Jeep enthusiast forum, so we are probably not your typical buyer.

Re: Is MaxCare Lifetime a good care?

So how many years do you think you should own a vehicle to consider the lifetime warranty a good deal?

They also do not plan on having as many failures as has become the case with the new complexity associated with the new electronically-controlled cars.

For my '08 WK HEMI, I would venture a guess that Chrysler has put at least as much money into repairs (parts & labor) as it cost them to produce it. That was in a period of 1 year after the 3/36 warranty expired.

Like an insurance policy, except the actuaries have no history or historical data since the cars designs are new.

IMHO, expect the rates to rise dramatrically within 2 years.

I am also under the impression that Chryler started offering the lifetime warranty around the 2006/2007 timeframe. If that is correct, then it may still be too early to determine if this is a good business model or not.

Does anyone have a copy of their lifetime warranty contract they can post? When I bought mine the lady said it was transferable in NC and FL for $50 to a second owner. I'm looking for that in the contract.
