Re: Is MaxCare Lifetime a good care?

This is from the Chrysler extended warranty website:

http://www.jeep.com/en/service_contr...les/index.html
Transfer Policy

A service contract may make your vehicle more valuable and easier to sell. In most, but not all, cases remaining coverage may be transferred to a second owner of the vehicle at the time of vehicle sale. A $50 option transfer fee will be applied (in most states). Lifetime coverage is not transferable unless required by state law.

I find it hard to believe that thier business model is based on hoping enough people drop out and never use the warranty. It might have worked out for you but thats just not the way to stay in business. Just my thoughts.

Can you purchase this if your jeep is out of the original warranty?

It's the customer's option to buy an extended warranty or not, and the actuaries know how many people keep a vehicle and for how long and also have a good history of warranty claims to base their pricing on. It's a GOOD business model because it offers a customer extra value at the customer's option. If the mfr was losing money on extended warranties, the price would go up or they would not offer it anymore. If the customer thinks it's not worth it, then they don't have to buy. Seems like a win-win to me.

LOL. That is the basic business model for all insurance companies.

Re: Is MaxCare Lifetime a good care?

Do you know how amazing this is? I can buy the lifetime warranty with $0 deductible for $3600. That guarantees that my jeep will run for as long as I am alive and I keep it. That is amazing. $3600 guarantees I never have to buy another car as long as I live. WOW. Good thing I got the options I wanted. LOL.

The warranty is eventually terminated when the day comes that a repair is needed that costs more than the book value of the vehicle.

Then they would have to pay book value to buy out $$$$$. Then you get your extended warranty money back

Not if 20 years from now your Jeep is worth $1000 and it will take $5000 to repair the blown engine, you will just get $1000 and probably have to turn the jeep over to them.

Re: Is MaxCare Lifetime a good care?

And I bet there's no scenario where the money goes directly to you.

When they pay the book value and terminate the warranty, the payout is supposed to go towards the repair. The owner has to pay the remainder of the repair bill that the payout doesn't cover.

If you opt to not do the repair, or opt to take it somewhere else to have it repaired out of warranty (e.g. private mechanic), then they probably won't pay out nor will they terminate the warranty contract, either.

20yrs ain't bad. Even in that time the jeep will be worth more than $1000 especially if it has been repaired from the extended warranty all that time. Should last another 20.
