Re: Is MaxCare Lifetime a good care?

All these scenario's you're all painting, really are moot points. What you're not taking into account, is the amount of money you'd have already made off the warranty on twenty years worth of repairs!!

Certainly more than the $1,850.00 one will initially shell out for the warranty!!

Re: Is MaxCare Lifetime a good care?

I was looking at their site and noticed that all warranties are transferable except the lifetime warranty.
So the question is what would be the best option if you do intend to sell your jeep within 5 to 7 years? I think they have a 7/100,000 but what deductible would be the best $0, $50 or $100?
I really like my jeep and plan on keeping it for a while but I also said the same about my 2005 WK.

Re: Is MaxCare Lifetime a good care?

I've never been much on extended warranties, usually just a big money maker for the people selling them. If my new Jeep starts to have problems then I will just get rid of it and get something else. The only thing that scares me is the advanced electronics that this and all new vehicles have and if they start going out at the 3/36,000 mark.

Re: Is MaxCare Lifetime a good care?

This is the one part of the service contract that scares me:

"Repairs required as a result of other than a manufacturing defect (such as a design defect or normal wear);"

So does that mean if my rear control arm bushings wear out at 100k, they tell me to shove it?

Re: Is MaxCare Lifetime a good care?

So I bought maxcare for my used (former rental) 07 WK in 2008. At the time Daimler Chrysler was offering maxcare for NON-Chrysler models (Ford, GM).

Does Chrysler still offer this? I think I had called DCX Warranties directly when I was researching pricing.

Re: Is MaxCare Lifetime a good care?

Anyone heard of direct buy warranty? they are offering an additional 6 years and 100,000 with zero deductible for $1500.00. it kicks in after the factory warranty expires. so it is basically a 9 year 136,000 warranty.
Thanks

I personally wouldn't buy any vehicle warranty that was not offered through the manufacturer.

Re: Is MaxCare Lifetime a good care?

Darn. Today I was quoted $2000 on line for the Lifetime Maxcare with $100 deductable. Mine is a 2wd only had it a few months and 6k miles. Huh? Gone up $200 already?

Edit: I noticed if I clicked the "Lifetime Powertrain Warranty", which I don't have, the cost went down to $1880.

How can I get the $1800 everyone's mentioning?

The problem with 3rd party ext warranties is that Chrysler dealers are not obligated to accept them. DBW website says: "Your advisor will contact our authorization department who are ASE certified." - good luck with that. I spoke with Chrysler dealer and independent mechanic about another 3rd party warranty and they both said they have to stay on phone for too long and jump through too much hoops to get reimbursed.

Re: Is MaxCare Lifetime a good care?

The maxcare warranty also uses used or remanned parts. They only use new parts if the used/remanned are not available. The lifetime uses new. Every time I checked on a price it was different. The latest was 2200 for the lifetime. They are not part of Chrysler but they say they are Chrysler backed (whatever that means). Just sayin'.
