Is my offer reasonable for 2012 Cherokee?

Hi everyone,

I had decided to hold out on buying a JGC and wait for the Diesel but now I am not sure I want to wait that long. It just seems like its going to take a while for the Diesel JGC to be released.

So....I went to the dealership and test drove an Overland 2012 Jeep GC again.

I will get the point....

Basically I wanted the car for 39,680 out the door with a 72 month financing. I was going to give a big down payment.

My question to everyone who has bought one is if this is a reasonable offer because the salesman did not think so.

Here is the car I want:

2012 Mineral Gray Overland 4x4 V6

It's a good price for both you and the dealer. The salesman is just trying to get more of your money for himself. Go directly to the General Manager.

Thanks that makes me feel better because the guy I talked to was some kind of manager. I did it over the phone. However, he was being sarcastic and it was annoying me. I told him I was offering a good down payment and my asking price was reasonable based off of what everyone here got their Jeep for. Also, told him my credit score which is in the high 700's.

Yeah, he told me to call him back on Thurs. because he was going to try and negotiate my offer to the banks. He said it very sarcastic and made me feel like I was nuts for what I was asking. I told him ok, but dont plan on calling him. He can call me if he is interested in selling.

I am going to call up other dealers and see what they offer. Also, I am considering reading up on the tread lightly program.

Sounds like his attitude lost the sale.. Go somewhere else for sure...

I went looking at Gc's last spring to test fit car seats and test drive. Got a salesman who apparently thought my wife and i couldn't afford a jeep and was a dick. We are younger than most who buy 40k SUVs... Now that I Have my 12 limited I want to go to that dealer to show him the sale he and his dealership lost.. But not worth my time hahaha

If you got no options the deal you want is about $600 over dealer cost. If you can get that deal then you should jump on it. I believe the "attitude" you are getting from the dealer could be from the low profit they would make on this deal. If you added some options then you are asking below dealer cost and they will probably let you walk. Not sure where you live but that could change the price slightly.

If you have a credit in the high 700 the salesmen is a mooron for not taking your business. I will take your business with no downpayment at a very low interest.
The bank will say yes to any price, keep the faith he will call for sure. Unless he does not have the car in the dealer and he has to order it then it is no business for them.

Hi i just got the 2012 overland 4x4 Hemi with saddle interior for 39390 was in stock and end of month they advertised on there website 7k off sticker until i got there and then it was 2 off sticker told them it was a no go at that price and they dropped it back to the advertised price of 39390 with no hassle that was including the 1000 jeep rebate

IMO the offer is not reasonable "out the door". Tax, title, and license costs about $2500 on my recently purchased 2012 Overland V6. So if those costs are somewhat similar in your state then your basically asking this dealership to sell you a Overland (I assume without adaptive cruise) for about $37,000. There is just no possible way thats gonna happen unless the dealership is willing to take a loss on that particular vehicle.
I recently purchased my 2012 Overland V6 4x4 saddle interior and adaptive cruise for $39,612 + tax, title, and license. So out the door price was approximately $42,000 and that was the absolute BEST deal I can find out of like 40 dealerships throughout the Chicago area. Unfortunately, I dont see anyway possible that you can get a new Overland for around 37K. Just not gonna happen.
I would say an excellent price for the vehicle you mentioned would be anywhere around 38-39K + ttl.

if you're looking for financing, try pentagon federal. i got 1.99 for 48 months. i think they offer 1.99 for 72 months as well. i just started using them but like them alot.

All of the above are correct but really based on "insufficient data". A lot depends on where you are, I suspect there is more demand for a V6 4x4 in Dallas than Clarksburg. For Mineral Grey in the midwest than Florida.

Another factor since it sounds like the car is at the dealer is how long has he had it (does the destination charge on the sticker say $825 or $925). If the former, it has been on his floor plan for several months and is still there. He will probably want to move it by the 30th. If a demonstrator it may have a few miles on it, if over 50, that is a negotiating point.

Next, do you have more than one dealer in your area to choose from ? Can just check on line to see how many similar cars are around your zip code.

TT&L varies by location. Also in Florida, if you have a license plate to use that can make a difference of several hundred dollars. Do not know about other states.

Finally, what is the MSRP? What I've been seeing seems to be 8-9% below MSRP "out the door" for a good deal, over 10% for a very good deal (including the grand rebate).

Might also mention that cash vs 0% loan makes little difference to the dealer, nor does your credit rating so long as enough to get approved, there is no meat there for him & once sold, is a different color of money. Might be some extra profit in a maintenance agreement but make sure it is a Chrysler plan.
