Contemplating spending the extra few grand on a WK2 with Select-Terrain. The only reason I'd be doing it is for Sport mode. How much better is Sport mode than Auto mode with regard to shift points, throttle response, etc?
I have the Hemi and turned it on the other day when going to pick up some friends at the airport and the power band seemed much wider and more responsive with sport mode then normal.
I normally just leave it on auto though and I do mostly city driving since it goes back to auto everything you turn the jeep on anyways.
I wonder if that software update to QTII Milous spoke of a couple weeks ago will involve a Sport mode that doesn't modify the traction/stability control settings...
I think there's a difference in overall "feel" of driving. Can't always quite place that feel, except there seems to be a bit more responsiveness to driver inputs across the board.
We were coming back from a party last weekend and since I had a few beers my wife was driving. She started up our twisty mountain road so I reached over and put the dial on sport mode. She hit a patch of frost on the road (weird, as it was high 30's and dropping slowly) and the rear end slid out. I put the dial back to auto and we were fine after that.
Has others have mentioned (and it is stated in the Manual I believe), Sport Mode partly disables traction control.
Sport Mode is meant for more agressive and spirited driving. It should not be used if maximum traction control and other safety features are needed due to poor road conditions.
