Re: Is the back up camera worth upgrading to the Limited trim.

Bad habit might be not turning your head around to see what's near you. I hate going in reverse anywhere, but store/mall parking lots make me real paranoid. A lady walking to her car was KILLED by a car backing out of parking spot at a strip mall near me several years ago

Re: Is the back up camera worth upgrading to the Limited trim.

I only use the backup camera for "precision" backing up and to glance at to make sure I'm not running over anything I can't see normally (i.e. small children or trashcans). I love that I can get within inches of an obstacle with little effort.

Yes. The JGC is a big vehicle and it's tall so it really helps to have the camera. Plus, it's so nice to be able to pull into a parking spot in reverse without a second thought.

I've decided to get the back up camera. Hopefully I will be getting my GJC within the next 2 weeks. I'll post pictures once I get it.
Like getting in my vehicle for work and throwing it in reverse thinking a beep will let me know something is there. Really just laziness on my part.

Re: Is the back up camera worth upgrading to the Limited trim.

I can't remember the trim level for the MY13 vs MY14, if you are refering to the 13's I'd say it may not be worth it, because you can upgrade to it through the dealer (without the parking sensors) for a reasonable fee. If its the 14's its pretty much the only way to get the cam unless your ok with aftermarket, in which case I'd be more inclined to spend an additional $2000 - $3000.

It's worth the money. Still can't believe Jeep doesn't include it on the Laredo. There as some of us that just want a basic WK2 with a couple of options like Off Road 2.

Definitely worth it... I use it all the time. It's very beneficial is such a large vehicle. My wife's Evo has backup sensors and I get so annoyed that I can't see behind me... The beeping means nothing if I don't know what it's beeping at. Now that I have the backup cam... I'd never want to go without.

Re: Is the back up camera worth upgrading to the Limited trim.

Definitely worth it but why upgrade to a Limited. In Australia at least, Limiteds and Overlands come with a rear camera as standard and as an option for Laredos. However, whichever way you order, the cameras are fitted by the importer's detailer, not the factory. I don't know if it's the same in the States.

Re: Is the back up camera worth upgrading to the Limited trim.

My only comment on this is the combination of the low roof, small windows, and rear head rests makes looking behind over your shoulder an experience. The rear view mirror is clear, but oblique views, not so much. So, having extra visibility with the camera is helpful. I am still getting used to mine.

Go ahead, buy the car without. Save some $$$. Next time you get sued for $500,000 because you scratched some irresponsible mother's toddler (who should have kept the kid by her hand instead of running through the parking lot) backing out of your parking spot, remember this post on the Jeep forum.

Re: Is the back up camera worth upgrading to the Limited trim.

The backup camera is the best thing to happen to SUVs since power windows. I have a WK (soon to be replaced with a WK2) and there is very limited visibility through the rear window.
