I could do with out the pano roof my shade is closed 98% of the time.
I never use the led flashlight(very dim).If i didn't have a rear filper glass i would trade these two for one!
Do without: My appendix, I have no need for it. I cut back on the grass eating several years ago.
Must have: Detachable penis, comes in very handy. It does cause some issues, such as having to buy it back for $17, but overall there are advantages.
Hey - don't sell the appendix short...just because "old" science didn't know or understand it's purpose and "evolutionary theories" came to wrong conclusions about it, it does serve a non-critical function in the body. You can live without it, but best not to.
As for the detachable penis...why would in the heck would you want to be without one? LOL
Nav, backup camera, 4x4, blind spot warning is darn nice to have in heavy traffic...
Concur on regular sun roof versus pano sun roof ... not a critical thing. The flashlight is a joke...the should have spent the extra 50¢ for a better one.
? I have a full sized spare that fits. Some Kumho model.
I'd prefer a slightly larger well that would allow fitting a true 5th standard wheel and tire, plus a TPMS in the spare so I'd be aware if it were not ready when needed.
TPMS in the tires themselves? Not really, thats why they make guages.
However, it is sorta amusing on long trips across varied weather conditions to see
how much the pressure rises and falls with outside temp and speed.
I wouldn't want to do away with ANY of the many features the Grand Cherokee has...all those gizmos is one of the main reasons I bought the Overland in the first place. All I ask is Chrysler to get their shit together and work all the bugs out of some of them.
As for my favorite features?
1) Heated steering wheel - I don't like wearing gloves.
2) Remote start - Bring back auto rear window defroster function with a cold remote start Chrysler!
3) Air suspension - Lowering it makes getting in/out for kids & elderly people much easier.
4) 8 sp transmission - When it works properly, it's a nice smooth transmission. Unfortunately there's still bugs to work out with the V6 tranny (hard downshifts into 1st coming to a full stop).
- TPMS. The sensors are an unnecessary expense vs. using a tire pressure gauge.
- Heater controls linked thru the touch screen, or automatic climate control altogether. Auto climate control works great on a house. A vehicle, not so much. It would be nice if they put the controls so they're always showing on the touch screen, like in a "bar" along the bottom or something.
Must have would be - Power windows, flipper glass and back up camera.
I could do without everything else. The stuff that never gets used- Sunroof, although I do like it at night, it's usually too hot to use during the day. Power seats, never had them before and usually find the right spot and leave it there.
What I would like to have, but no longer included or I something I didn't get - Rolling down the windows via the key fob. Fold flat front seat. Roll down back window, think 4runner. Auto driver so I could just never drive.
I can't imagine having an enclosed Jeep with out the pano roof. I thought the whole idea of a Jeep was to be open, airy, and adventurous? I do have allergies and sometimes keep the pano roof closed. Even then I always have the shade retracted. I have two Jeep hats I wear when I am in my Jeep. A light beige one for spring/summer and a dark black one for fall/winter. Never had a problem with sun or wind when wearing one of those hats.
Must have: Adaptive Cruise Control and memory seats
Don't know how I drove long distances without it and I miss it even more since my ORC module went out disabling it. With both my wife and I trading vehicles often, it would always annoy me to death her settings for the mirrors and seat, but not anymore.
Can live without: Reverse tilting mirrors
Thought I needed this feature and was so glad to have it. Enabled the option. tried it out and hated it, never using it again.
Must have: air suspension, pano sunroof, rear air vents, adaptive cruise, V8 engine, Bluetooth connectivity, leather everywhere, the solid 4WD, the solid Maxcare warranty, the real wood, the air conditioned/heated seats, heated steering wheel, solid sound system.
Don't need: basically stuff I don't have. Rear entertainment, 3rd row seat (in fact, I consider it a huge negative - I can go smaller than a JGC but not bigger), better fuel economy would be nice but not really willing to sacrifice performance for it. QD2 seems really nice and I'll try to get it for my next Jeep but this one doesn't have it and didn't fail me last winter. Also, don't really need Jeeps to be cheaper - in fact I'd be willing to pay more if it meant better reliability and/or better dealer service with actual loaner cars.
I've had my Grand Cherokee less than a month and I already know I'll never be able to go without the Keyless Enter-N-Go. It's just so convenient to leave the keyfob in my pocket, hop in and drive. I'm sure the automatic start with the auto-on heated steering wheel and seat when it's cold will be appreciated in a few months. I also love the always on power in the center console. My last vehicle was a Toyota and they don't offer that.
As for things I could do without, like others have said, the flashlight is useless. Also, I don't have flipper glass, but I had it in my FJ and never used it beyond testing it out a few times when I got the truck. Now, a roll down rear window (like the 4Runner) would be nice.
I had this feature on my 300 and LOVED it. I really wanted it in my Jeep. However, something about the angle they go down didn't work for me so I, too, disabled it.
The funny thing is that most features on my list weren't in my previous vehicle and at the time I was fine with that. Now they're all "must haves". Funny how that happens.
- Auto cruise control / adaptive cruise etc. Many drivers are too inattentive as it is. This will just make them ever more dependent on these features.
- Self-parking systems. Seriously, if you can't park your car, forfeit your license already!! FFS...
- Auto-locking doors. I'll lock the doors when I feel it's necessary, thank you very much.
- Blind-spot monitoring. No thanks. Instead of spending $1000 or so for this feature, I'll just use my mirrors and look over my shoulder when changing lanes. This is all part of being a good driver. It's not that difficult.
Features I can't live without:
- Air conditioning. I love A/C!
- Push-button start / keyless entry. It's one of those things that I have to have since having it on my previous car.

The CD player. I want that $300 and console space back. It appears that dealers tend to stock most Jeeps with this add-on for some strange reason in this age of bluetooth enabled smart phones.
I pretty much like all the features on my GC but could definitely do without the VR for the phone. That damn woman does not pronounce one single name correctly therefore when asking for someone to be called by name I have to know her language. :slapfight:
- 430N Garmin NAV - what a waste of money. It's so shitty I just end up using my phone for navigation. Wish I would have spent the extra $500 on a trailer hitch instead of the NAV.
For me - a sunroof and the rear view camera are a must. I got the LUX2 package because of the panoramic sunroof - I enjoy all the features of the package, especially the HID and the cooled seats, but the sunroof was the primary reason.
I wish it came with flipper glass, there are a lot of situations where I would love to open just the glass and not the whole hatch.
Guess this is as good as any place to post my first post. So I have owned my Summit all of a week and here is my list
Do without:
-Reverse tilting Mirror (oh look there is gum on the ground), the angle is too steep.
-Collision Mitigation (swear mine doesn't work right or it is just not that great of a system. I set up a huge appliance box in the street and drove at it. Nothing. got a large beep at the absolute last second. Was going about 15mph)
-Panoramic Sunroof.
Must have:
-Adaptive Cruise Control works awesome (did have it just turn off once out of the blue, will have dealer take a look at)
-Rear View Camera (after I flashed the uConnect system, works much better)
-Parking Sensors
-Diesel Motor. It is very good and was the main selling point for me.
-Keyless entry. I will never own another car that I have to actually use a key to start. Ever!

Give the collision mitigation a little more time since you have only had it a week I actually like it pretty well. Its hard to safely test it. also remember its not going to do anything except warn you (beep, shutter and flash Brake) when your foot is on the gas. if you start to brake and it senses that you are not braking enough for the situation it will compensate with additional braking. I have only been in situations twice in a year and a half where it provided more braking. It needs to be a very near collision situation. Really the warning is all I ever need that quick warning if you miss judge stopping traffic is nice gets your attention real quick.
