Love the whole 8sp/quadra-trac setup.

Hate the auto power-off after 30 minutes (fixed) when the engine is not running.

Can't do without any of the Overland standard features. Used to them.

I do agree I can do without the 30 min auto power off. It's annoying when ur at the drive in and get interrupted from movie when the radios powers off and miss important info of the movie.

Really grinds my gears.

The air con seats. No more sweaty backs, even down here in Alabama. Also love the blind spot detection and the ACC.

MUST HAVE: Backup camera and park sense.

I had a 2014 GC Altitude (lemon) that was bare bones and wished everyday i had the rear camera. Now that i have it, ill never get another car/truck without it.

Re: Is there any feature you can do without or a must have!

for the like it is the Front and Rear bumper sensors and camera, I have never had those before and thought they were kind of a gimmick when I was buying but turns out I love those things and glad I have them. I can quickly put that jeep in the tightest of parking garages without a thought and get into places I would have never tried to get my last sedan into.

and for the useless feature that would be the Uconnect service subscription, what they offer for $20 a month plus tax is worthless. Im sure jeeps subscription renewal rate on that is abysmal and they are losing money. The way it is now its worth maybe $2 or 3 dollars a month.

This. Vented seats are very nice for us that get hot.

I do not like anything that places unnecessary wear on components. This is why I always disable the "easy exit" options where seats move back, steering wheel tilts up, and/or suspension lowers.

Sirius Weather and Traffic are worthless as well. Can't zoom in far enough on the radar and the traffic information is always greatly delayed in my experience.

Sirius Travelink provides weather and traffic to the 8.4AN. The weather forecast is a useful function and pretty accurate. The traffic info interacts with the NAV system to redirect you around problems, and has guided me around numerous traffic jams. I like it and will renew when the 5 year free trial expires.

I don't use nav, Sirius travel link, traffic or weather. Don't go anywhere where I need that and if the weather's that bad I'll listen to a local FM station.

Re: Is there any feature you can do without or a must have!

The Must -Haves:

- Keyless entry and start. The only improvements I would want are a) an optional setting to allow the doors to lock automatically after the fob leaves the vicinity of the vehicle and b) a foot activated lift gate for when my hands are full.

- The backup camera. With the poor visibility out the back, this is a must-have feature that I'll want on every vehicle from now on.

- Heated seats and steering wheel. 'Nuff said...

- Power Lift Gate. I thought this was a silly feature until the first time I was able to pop the back gate in the rain as I approached with a shopping cart full of groceries. I hit the remote about 10-15 feet way and it was up and providing a roof for me and the cart to hide under while I loaded the stuff into the trunk.

- Remote Start. While I don't use it often, it's nice to start the vehicle as I approach so it can expel the hot air in the summer and cold air in the winter and start up the heated seats before I get in. I worried about the possibility of accidentally leaving the wipers in the on position when shutting off the vehicle (if in delay mode, for example) and having them be damaged if frozen to the windshield when the car starts up. However, I was pleased to find out they are disabled until you press the Start button to drive away.

- Automatic Headlights. While I understand some people have different experiences, mine work perfectly for me and I love never having to remember to turn them on in the rain (we have a wipers on/headlights on law here) or any other time for that matter. I like that they come on right at dusk, so I know other vehicles can see me properly from both the front and rear when visibility goes down.

- One touch up AND down for the power windows. That's a huge step up over the down only version I had in my previous truck. Being able to flick the switch once after leaving the security gate at work is so much better than having to hold my finger on the button until the window closes.

- Built in garage door opener. I love not having to have an external opener I have to clip to my visor or hide away somewhere.

- The top mounted engine oil filter. What a great feature. I hated having to fuss under my old truck to get the filter off that someone at Ford thought was perfectly placed right directly over the steering system. I just wish I had the extra height underneath the F150 had so I could roll under with my creeper to drain the oil without lifting it. I'll miss that extra room. I can slide under on a sheet of cardboard, but still...

- Bluetooth connection to my phone. I won't get another vehicle without it.

Things I have little use for:

- The flashlight. What a piece of garbage. I would rather they had included a little air compressor or even a car vac than that useless thing.

- Satellite radio. I never use it. I also find the weather warnings annoying and seldom apply to my area. I won't be paying for it when it expires.

- UConnect service. Pretty much all useless. Even the phone app remote start is silly. It takes so long to happen, I could be already out to the car by the time it starts. Further, the concierge stuff is worthless to me as is the hot spot feature. Now, if the service let me use my phone as a key fob, then I might consider it.

- The cargo shade...aka, the useless roller thing that gets in the way of cargo. I took it out after about two weeks and now it takes up space in my garage.

- The built in cargo hooks in the side walls. What a joke those thing are.

Some things I wish it had:

- A manual override for the passenger seat adjustments. I would really love to have a quick, manual flip and fold feature to either a) easily get to the battery compartment or b) to enable loading something long when I don't have a passenger.

- A manual external pop switch for the rear gate in case of power loss.

- Puddle lights on the bottoms of the side view mirrors that come on when you unlock the vehicle and stay on for whatever lighting delay you have set.

- Standard front tow hooks. Even without the off road package, my F-150 came with them standard. I miss having them.

- Pop-up glass in the rear gate. It would be so much more handy to be able to just open the glass and toss something in there, especially when the cargo area is mostly full.

- Remote window venting. It's disappointing hey removed this feature. Further, having an optional setting to roll the windows up when locking the vehicle would be a huge bonus.

- One more speed for the delay wipers. Right now, the highest delay speed is too fast for most conditions and the next lower speed is too slow. The system needs one more speed to split the difference between them.

- A freaking off switch for the stereo. Seriously. Sometimes I just want peace and quiet and I don't want to change my volume setting. Let...Me...Turn...The...Damn...Thing...Off. Further, it needs to remember that I turned it off and not turn on the next time I start the vehicle, the way it starts playing the SD card music the next time I start up.

- A proper standard bottle jack instead of that silly scissor jack. Also, a compartment in the side wall of the cargo area to put it in so the larger area inside the spare tire can be used as hidden storage.

- A front facing camera that would trigger on when you get within 3 feet of an object ahead. There are just some times when you really need ever inch you can get when maneuvering and it's just really hard to see how close you are over the hood.

- The option to use the rear cam as a cargo cam when the trailer hookup is plugged in. Sometimes when you pull a low trailer (such as those used for motorcycles or lawn care equipment), it's hard to see if everything is nice and tight back there. It would create more peace of mind to be able to see back there without having to stop and check.

- A "test mode" for the trailer wiring. Give me a mode I can activate that will turn on the signals, brakes and the marker lights on and off in a specified sequence for when I need to hook up a trailer by myself and need to check everything is working on the trailer. It would run through the pattern continuously until I shut it off to allow me to diagnose any issues.

- Give me the option to manual set the shift points according to my driving style along with a sensitivity setting that determines when and how many gears the vehicle will downshift according to how hard I press the accelerator. As it is now, the Eco mode operates almost completely the same as regular mode with nearly identical shift patterns. The difference isn't even close to that between regular and Sport Mode, which is radically different.

- A longer lane change function for the left signals. Right now, it flashes only 4 times. That's too short. In theory, you should be turning on your signal, checking your mirrors, then changing lanes - not checking your mirrors, flipping on your signal and going. The signal is intended to be a warning that you intend to change lanes, not that you're in the process of it. It should flash at least 6-8 times to be truly useful for safe lane changes.

Re: Is there any feature you can do without or a must have!

Appreciate much
  • Audible speed limit notification of NAV: very handy when changing speed zone and not paying too much attention to signalisation! This feature saves certainly me tickets money
  • Automatic seat/steering/Mirror adjustments for 2 drivers: a must when sharing the drive
  • Heated steering Wheel: so comfortable
Not very usefull
  • SUV is too new to me to identifiy any useless feature

I like that feature too...I just have to keep it at a high threshold due to how fast everyone drives around here....
