Re: Issue free

This is getting silly. I have bought quite a few new cars, none stayed completely stock for long but I consider a car that just needed routine maintenance for 100,000 miles to have had no faults.

Not saying the cars are perfect, I can't read my instruments with sunglasses on but can see the EVIC for MPH. It didn't come with a backup camera, cargo cover, or side step so I added those. Still is the best tow car I've ever had

Are two recalls and an extended warrenty on one cyl head but have not had any indicator any are needed (dealer is going to call when parts are in).

Do live where rust is nonexistant unless I drive to the beach (and wash over and under immediately on return). All of my cars are garaged.

At moment I have the '12 Jeep, '07 Crossfire, '90 Reatta vert, '88 Reatta coupe, and '70 Judge. 88 does need the P/S pump replaced (have) but is only one I couldn't just get in and drive to LaLa Land. (Well, the GTO would want a LOT of premium).

So other than a '70 Buick GS that came off the truck with the radiator clogged with engine sealer and a '90 Bonneville that had the oil pressure sender replaced under a TSB I really haven't had any cars with factory defects. Just lucky I guess.

Only issue is deciding whether the monsoon season is nearly over or if I need to replace the factory Goodyears with 6/32nds that have poor wet traction now (can say both the TC and the ABS work as intended).

ps since 1978 all of my cars have been from American companies.

Okay, well, my 1998 Toyota Camry had several issues over its lifespan that required replacement hardware and shop time.

My 2014 JGC has had a few issues, none of which required replacement hardware.

However, most of the issues in my JGC were in features that I wouldn't have been able to obtain if I had bought a 4Runner (which was my alternative choice). Furthermore, all the JGC issues I have had so far have been fixed by firmware patches.

I guess I would rather have a vehicle with features that have a few bugs that eventually get patched vs. a vehicle that lacks all those features. If you don't have something then it can't break; incidentally, this seems like an excellent subject for Zen meditation.

YMMV.

Re: Issue free

No problems so far after 17,000 miles on our 2014 ecodiesel. I did get the recall notice about the sun visor wiring that can cause problems if the visor is removed.

I've had no issues. Normal updates but that's it. I did get the brake booster and vanity recall notices though.

Re: Issue free

I give a new vehicle a pass on one issue. My 2005 GC had ZERO issues in nearly 6 years of ownership....ZERO. My 2011 had just one minor seat cover issue (leather was bunched up / excess / loose in one spot) which was replaced and my 2014 had the CV boot clamp issue which needed the two front half axles replaced. Both 2011 and 2014 were/are great and really enjoyed/enjoying. I've had 7 Jeeps (6 GC's) so I must be a happy customer.

Re: Issue free

18k almost 19k miles - built in late august '13 delivered in early october'13 - other than TSBs, a recall and oil changes (full synthetic since 4k miles done when the evic says to) and nav unit that was bricked by the dealer doing an "upgrade" I have had no problems! Driving in traffic down rte 66 (rush hour parking lot) getting about 18 mpg and several trips to pa where I got 25 mpg and one trip to Ct for an emergency where I went the length of the NJTP at 90 plus and got 22. Easily as fast as the 2001 v8 it replaced!

Re: Issue free

ZERO issues with our 2/14/14 build JGC, currently at 10,110 miles. Did the 14.25.5 radio update myself and one oil change at 6.5k plus wheels rotated also at 6.5k (this just before a long road trip).

The same with our 2011 Kia Optima EX. ZERO.
It has been completely issue and trouble free w/37k on it. As with our JGC, only regular maintenance plus a new set of tires at 35k.

And I am one picky, anal SOB when it comes to ANYTHING mechanical.
Road raced motorcycles and a pilot for over 35 years......

I am delighted when something is trouble and issue free LOL!

Latitudes, no. Going to MS/2, yes. They seem to hold traction better at low tread depths... but nothing is magic when Lincoln's entire head is visible.

Re: Issue free

I have certainly had some cars that had no issues before fairly high mileage. An old Acura Integra and my Jeep ZJ come to mind. My Jaguar was a bucket of bolts that had constant issues (including a dead transmission at around 60k miles) that made WK2s seem like Toyotas. My Jeep Liberty was generally ok until around 120k miles when it basically fell apart, aside from the window regulator issues. The WK2 is in the middle - a dead water pump, some minor rattles I still need to get fixed, some recalls. But I only have ~37k miles on it so not really a great result so far. If I end up buying another JGC again I basically will expect at least some Gremlins to deal with.

Re: Issue free

2014 Jeep GC Limited with May 2014 build. Zero problems and I have driven it with a trailer over 3,500 miles. 9,800 on it now. I have had two oil changes (first at 1,000 miles) and no problems.

Next week, I am purchasing the lifetime warranty. This gem is a keeper.

Re: Issue free

Lincoln's head heck, I can barely see his nose and these tires are walking in a typical rainstorm. Hadn't seen the TC light near as much in '12 and '13.
