Issue free

Who here has had ZERO issues with their Jeep GC? Reading through this forum it's just one issue after another. And I know people only report issues when they come up... but this is by far the worst I have seen on a plethora of forums I belong to.

Re: Issue free

You won't find anything that is man made and/or mass produced that is issue free. The question you should be asking is what amount/type of issues are acceptable?

Re: Issue free

No issues here except for the creaky rear spoiler. We did buy ours used though, so maybe the first owner (Enterprise Rent-a-Car) broke it in for us.

That's not totally true. On the internet, people also report issues they read about, even if they haven't had a problem themselves.

But people are the same no matter what car they own. So your observation that Jeep has a higher number of issues than most other manufacturers is valid. This point has also been confirmed by a number of surveys and magazine reviews of the vehicles.

I believe Jeep sells well because it has no competition across it's price points. So when things are going well, it is a great value. The few issues I had were minor and taken care of relatively quickly. I never had to take my vehicle off the road.

If they could improve the quality of the dealer network, that would be a big plus.

I've been battling the steering wheel shimmy since I took delivery a year ago. Five visits to the dealership for road force balancing, a wheel alignment and just recently had them replace the front hub assembly as per the TSB. I'm going to take it to a tire shop this time for another road force balance in hopes a tire shop gets it right. If they can't, then I'm convinced its bad tires. Having said that, other then a few software updates for the transmission and radio, it's been great. It's just this darn annoying shimmy.

Re: Issue free

I just got my 4th Grand Cherokee and have never had any problems with any of them. People don't post on forums when they have no problems. My husband always buys GMC or Ford trucks and every new one he has bought has had to go back to dealer in the first month for some sort of issue. I've never had that happen with my Grand Cherokees.

Re: Issue free

Summit built May 2014, 5,800 miles and 100% issue free . My only contact with dealer was earlier this week when I saw salesman outside of their office and told him how great it was (compared to Feb 2013 build Overland that was replaced with Summit after 13 months and 14,000 miles).

Sorry, but respectfully, I don't believe you. When something involves thousands of parts and machinery, computers, and humans there will be problems. Perhaps the issues were not big enough to bother you but there were problems in your perfect vehicles, trust me on this. I tell people there were no problems in my new Cherokee too. The reality is that Chrysler replaced the front brake pads and rotors. Not because the parts were defective but because a new employee slobbered some goop all over the pads. He was new to the job and didn't know what he was doing yet. Did it bother me? Absolutely not. Every new employee is entitled to make a mistake until he learns the job. The only time it would have bothered me is if Chrysler had refused to correct it at no expense to me.

I am 64 years old and have bought several new vehicles from several different vehicle manufactures over the years. All of them had issues of one kind or another. Some were not significant enough to bother me and so I chose to live with them. Others bugged the daylights out of me and I demanded they be fixed immediately. I can't believe I was just unlucky over all of those vehicles, over all of those years, and over all of those manufacturers. I repeat, nothing man made is ever going to be perfect.

Re: Issue free

I had one perfect vehicle. It was an '07 Jeep Liberty. Four years and six oil changes. So, I do know it is possible.

Some people are lucky enough to win the lottery more than once. The odds of that would probably be a lot slimmer than getting perfect cars.

Calling somebody a liar because they have been lucky is in pretty poor taste. IMHO
