Call me paranoid but fudging numbers to pay lower taxes could lead to trouble. Not saying I wouldn't do it just something do discuss in private with a potential buyer. And no, you've never upset me. Didn't mean to come off as an a_ _.

Like I said in both threads im offering my Overland for sale because I currently have two vehicles and the Jeep was the one I decided to sell. I am not being forced to do it, the Jeep isnt being repo'ed or anything like that, but I personally enjoy driving my car more which also happens to be significantly cheaper. So even though it was a very tough choice im letting the Overland go. I havent admitted it, but I know a big part of the reason I dont enjoy the Overland as much is because for whatever reason I opted to go with the V6 in it. Even though I think its a great motor and does well on fuel, it really lacks any of the excitement I look for when driving a vehicle. If I were to do it all over again I would have got the Hemi. Ofcourse even if I had the Hemi I would probably want to sell that as well with the 2014's coming out! Thats just how I am I go through cars pretty often.
I understand what your saying about giving reasons as to why im selling my vehicle, but I have nothing to hide and have already given the real reason im doing it. Besides, most people would probably want some sort of explanation as to why im selling my Jeep with less than 10,000 miles on it.
No doubt, I see you are honest and sometimes offering your true feelings or multiple reasons will prevent you from selling or getting what you want for your vehicle -- all you need to say is you have three vehicles and one needs to go... that's it! No need to elaborate on what you should have bought because that will make a potential buyer think twice. This is especially important because of the V6...

It's a nice, good looking Jeep... don't forget to elaborate on the awesome Mineral Gray color that was just discontinued. A potential buyer won't be able to order a new one for 2014 MY.

I sold my 2010 SRT8 with 2,500 miles for the same price I paid new... and I never posted it for sale. Some people don't buy new and look for unabused, low mileage vehicles just for the savings.. in my case, I had the lowest mileage 2010 SRT8 in North America.. that was my selling point.

I think you recently buying a used car and quickly selling your newer SUV shows as a red flag... especially since you've indicated you'll be back for a 2014 that hasen't reared its ugly head yet.

I personally wouldn't offer too much commentary on the likes and dislikes... what I would do is stick to the selling points and include a dealer print out on the warranty work history, if any was performed. That will show more transparency than is generally requested... something I would insist on before buying a new-used vehicle.

Again, good luck...

It's fine no worries. Maybe you did not read my reply to your points regarding taxes in my for sale thread. I am in no way talking about fudging numbers to save in taxes. My point is 100% accurate that if you buy from a private owner in the state of IL taxes due will be significantly cheaper for this particular vehicle. If you didn't see my point these were just a quick idea of just how big the difference is. For example, on a $40,000 vehicle from a dealership, you will pay sales tax based on the county you live in. In my county it's 7.25%. So that means taxes alone would be $2,900 not including any fees the dealer charges. IL vehicle use tax on a private party sale is $1,500 for a $40,000 vehicle. That IMO is a big difference and absolutely a selling point especially on a vehicle as expensive as this. Hopefully I clarified this to you because I was not referring to cheating the system in anyway as you suggested.

I understand all your points and can see where too much info can potentially lead to some people questioning the sale. In my case this couldn't be furthur from the truth though. I am just one of those people that go through cars often and there is nothing else to it. My Jeep has been to the dealership only one time and that was to do the complimentary first oil change. When I say it hasn't had a single problem I mean it. It's been perfect in everyway.

Thanks for all the input

James

I'll be replacing my '11 Acura MDX with a '14 Overland. Right now it has less than 7500 miles on it and is accident and trouble free. By the the time the '14s arrive it will still have less than 10,000 miles on it.

I understand changing vehicles with no hidden agendas. I do it because I want to.

That about sums it up for me as well. So hopefully these threads don't cause anyone to question my vehicle, because like your Acura its basically a new condition vehicle that I really do like, but I like other things as well :-)

BTW, im a long time Acura owner as well I have liked them a lot. I have not owned an MDX, but im just curious how do you like it? I like them and looked into them, but there is simply nothing out there that can compete with a loaded Overland as far as value.

Good luck with the sale James. It's clear that you have taken good care of your Overland and whoever purchases this vehicle will get a very nice ride. I appreciate all of your prior posts as some of these have helped me with the mods I made to my Jeep. Thanks again

I bought the MDX to replace a Liberty, which seemed a bit small. At the time most cross overs had mast antenaes and the MDX had a hockey puck. This makes it much easier to throw plywood and a kayak up there. The dealer is right across the street from my bank, so I walked over one morning, took a test drive and bought the MDX.

The car has a 300hp V6, no choice, a six speed with paddle shifters and a great 'on road' AWD system. That equals plenty of power and great handling with a comfortable ride. The Alpine sound/nav(8") system is fair. The interior trim is plastic, the leather looked more worn after a year, than the Liberty's did after three. The fit and finish is below average IMHO.

So, I like driving it, but overall I am not impressed.

Great GC....if my dad hadn't bought a new one I'm sure he would have been very interested in buying this one as he loves the mineral gray.

I'm sure you'll get it sold quickly. I've sold many vehicles on autotrader so you may want to try that.

Best wishes.

Re: It was a tough decision, but im selling the Overland

Just wanted to let you guys know the Jeep ended up selling. I was blown away with the amount of interest this thing brought from people all over the country. I guess it was because the color combo and option package I had I dunno. I used autotrader and it sold for my asking price the guy didn't even ask to negotiate. I got what I paid new for the Jeep minus taxes. It was a deal I couldn't pass up so I did it. Looks like its going to a great home near Denver CO. I picked the guy up at the airport and he is currently driving it home and he was thrilled when he saw the Jeep parked in my garage all nicely detailed.
So, for anyone contemplating selling their Jeep if you have a like new condition low mile vehicle they are selling like hot cakes on the used market. I had 4 people lined up after this guy if the deal fell through. Although it was sad to see it go, I will never have gotten that much for my Jeep again so all in all I'm very pleased with how things worked out.
