But wouldnt it be nice if you could just walk back there?

You just pay a huge penalty in a big lumbering Suburban, its huge, unmaneuverable, more expensive, MUCH more expensive to fuel and insure, hard to garage both at home and when out and about...

Just no contest IMHO.

I guess that's right but all that stuff isn't a problem to my husband and I. And nothing beats an auto ride suspension IMO.

With two kids in diapers the savings in gas and monthly payment was very welcome. My first Windstar van had a console back there that made a perfect changing table. Changing car seats in a high SUV is a pain, especially for the wife, and nearly impossible if you are parked next to another big SUV in a lot because you can't open the door wide enough. With the sliding function the door is fully open and out of the way.

Nah, a real man doesn't mind owning a minivan when it makes the most sense for his family. He certainly wouldn't berate another for owning one.

Re: It Was Good While It Lasted

i picked up a '13 overland v6 a month ago. have about 1,000 miles on it now. came out of a 2009 m3 sedan - had 2nd child and needed more room. decided on the v6 as was tired of terrible gas mileage - 12-14mpg avg in m3. wife has x5 4.8i so thought i'd make a practical decision and get a somewhat fuel efficient suv (kind of an oxymoron). anyhow, have to say i love the truck, but somewhat regret not getting the v8. i don' think the extra 1-2 mpg is worth the lack of power. i really thought the v6 would get better mileage. salesman talked me out of v8. i'm averaging around 12 in the city. at that point it's so bad, i might as well have gotten the hemi. better to have the power than not... especially realized how slow the 6 was after driving my wife's x5 the other day, after not having driven it since getting my jeep. anyhow, on the hwy it does get great mileage though, like 25mpg which is great. i'm not sure where jeep came up with their 16 city mpg for the 4wd. i've tried to eke out the best mileage possible for city and have gotten 13 at best. jeep's city mpg test must have been done on a city that's located on a hill with the truck being towed up the hill. again, love the truck. great options and real value in comparison to how much you'd have to spend on comparable a benz or bmw. have to say though, after previous 5 cars being bmw's, the quality and feel is not quite as good as bmw. it's just not! but i bought the truck and am going to keep it for long term. really do love it, awesome looks, great features (love the streaming bluetooth and ac seats) great for my wife, 2 children and 120 pound Rottweiler. all around great truck and great value. still wish i had gotten the hemi though :-(

Re: It Was Good While It Lasted

The mileage on the sticker are EPA mileage for the EPA city loop. The numbers are calculations based on the data recorded during the emissions qualification as specified by the EPA. Manufactures do not actually run the vehicle on the road and measure the mileage, but all use the same calculation.

If you are doing a lot of idling and cold starts you mileage will suffer. Using E85 or high methanol fuel will also kill mileage.

I know this is a Jeep forum BUT.......Audi is making some great cars lately; stylish, fast, etc.

Look out BMW.

I Basically took a bath on the trade...
as a follow up to this statement and the other person who purchased the bmw 335. both are great cars, and love the new audis with the led lights. i had a 2009 m3 sedan that was 73k new (before taxes). trade in value in summer of 2012 with 39k miles on it was 38k. talk about depreciation! that's trade in value, not private party. my wife had a 2008 bmw 335 sedan w/ sport package and fully loaded. purchased pre owned when it was only 8 months old w/ 5k miles on it for $41,500. the car was 52-53k new (before taxes). the dealership that sold us the bmw 335 still made money, probably a few thousand. they're not in the business of not making money. so point is, the 335 took just as much as a bath as your jeep. maybe the jeep is marginally worse, who knows, but bad is bad. somewhere on here in another thread someone made a comment that basically said, cars are terrible investments. they all depreciate like rocks, for the most part, unless you're talking about some rare exotic. and sure, some probably depreciate a little more than others, but it's really not that much of a difference. again, great purchase on the a4 and 335. both are beautiful cars and won't disappoint.

I think the current Audi styling is ugly, especially up close, the interior turns me off. Performance .. ehhh.. Wonder how long they will last, not bad for a car, but not something I'd not want to have to depend on daily regardless of weather. They did fix that unattended acceleration thing didn't the? That was a good example of audi engineering

Was this post supposed to be sarcastic? I had to google it to even find out about Audi having unintended acceleration problems, and what I did find was that the last time they had those issues was with the 1982-1987 Audi 5000 sedan. That was over 25 years ago.

And then to bag on their engineering? You may not follow racing much, but Audi has claimed victory in every single 24 hours of Le Mans races since 2000, except for 2. One by Puegeot in 2009, and one by Bentley in 2008 (of which, Audi designed the engine / powertrain). Pretty good from a company that doesn't know how to "engineer", I'd say. They also dominated Rally Cross racing in the 80's, when they introduced Quattro (when no one else wanted to use AWD).

Not only that, but they've had at least one engine on "Ward's 10 Best Engines" every year since 1997, except for 98-99-02-03 (16 total). Only Ford (24), GM (24), and BMW (27) have more. If you include VW (8) and Porsche (3) (VW owns Audi, Porsche, Bentley, Bugatti, SEAT, Lamborghini, etc.) - they actually have 27 of the best engines.

So this whole post may come off as me touting Audi, but really my point was that you don't seem to know much about the history of Automobiles in general. I am a car person at heart, so I can't let a bunch of BS fly through untouched.

The styling issues - that is all personal preference but I will say that Audi is almost always a winner on Ward's 10 best Interiors each year as well. And those LED head lights that you see in just about EVERY car now a days... that "trend" was pretty much started by Audi with R8.

/ end rant.
