I know it's going to be standard equipment on most cars. It just sucks how cars are not even fun to drive all in the name of safety. Instead of cars driving themselves, how about every car disable cell phones completely when entering or having every car equipped with a breathalyzer?? My only experience with FCW was driving 40 miles an hour and someone turning into an apartment complex. This stupid system started braking with flashing lights and sounds. I almost yanked the wheel and GC into other lane of traffic. I wasn't even close to the car in front of me. I can see it being a great feature for the distracted or unaware drivers.

Must be nice to go through life never once being distracted or unaware.

Come to think of it, that might be distracting.

If the system is so great then they need to be able to sense my level of distraction.

Same here, the couple times it activated on me was for people taking rights into driveways and me going around them but the system sensed the distance I guess and panic braked which is disconcerting to say the least when your trying to maneuver around something, after that it was turned off

yeah, that's happened to me a few times too, but so far i've decided to try to change my driving habits and leave it enabled. i think it could save me on the highway (same as above) at some point so driving on local roads i'm trying to calm down.

I hit cancel when someone's turning right ahead of me and I brake if necessary.

Can someone tell me how the iPhone functions with the uconnect system? Do I have to use Bluetooth or can I plug it in and stream music through the Lightning connector, or can I use both?

If playing music can only be done via Bluetooth then that cements my need for CarPlay, Bluetooth is still horrible for music.

Just a side note, the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE now comes with CarPlay, but you still need to tether the phone to the car via USB. This is annoying a great number of people on the MB boards.

Not sure why, your charging your phone and getting better audio quality out of it. Plus it allows for video and so forth to get streamed if it is available, along with more app support. Bluetooth is still limited and only has so much bandwidth.

The audio quality alone is worth tethering it. No reason to get a 19 speaker HK system if your going to Bluetooth it lol.

This is how CarPlay works everywhere. There is a wireless version of CarPlay in the works, but it's not out yet.

Also all of this, especially that last line. There's a huge difference in sound quality between USB and bluetooth.
